6 week checks - both mine were rubbish. Well, I thought the first one was bad (the very young, very shy, very geeky looking male GP just muttered "Would you like some advice about contraception?" and looked very relieved when I said no :rotfl: ). Well, the second one was even worse, as the (different) GP forgot all about me  - he didn't ask me anything about me! (Ok it was all a big faff though as Alex did a huge poo in the middle of his check-up :o so I had to clean him up, and then he started screaming for his feed, so I think the Dr was just desperate to get rid of us! :rotfl: )

Swings - I have a photo of Alex on a swing at the park at 6 months old, which sounds about right. Both my boys sat up quite early though, so as someone said, it's probably a good idea to wait until they can sit well by themselves.

Green poos (LOL) - I remember Alex going through a phase of green poos at one point. Not sure how long they lasted - can't have been that long - and I don't think we did anything unusual breastfeeding-wise that would have led to it. Anyway, it was just one of those things that sorted itself out. Not much help, am I? :o

Alex had his first trip to the A&E yesterday.  He had a pulled elbow - yes, one of those nice things I've heard about before where you're holding the toddler's hand, they try to run away or fall down or sit down unexpectedly, while you're still holding the hand, and the elbow goes POP!  Ouch, the poor mite was in so much pain, but it's amazing how the relief is immediate once the doctors popped the elbow back in, he was back to his happy self!

Am now going to have to be mega careful when holding his hand. It's not like I was doing anything out of the ordinary either, just holding on tight as we were walking through a busy car park. Phew!

Right I need ur help ladies, I'm totally p'ed off with stupid cups and bottles leaking

The only bottle I have found that doesn't leak when supposedly closed or make juice taste like plastic (what is that about??) is a sigg one which is a bit expensive to be buying about 4 of!!
Chris has been using a tesco's "sports beaker" which is one with a silicone straw but he's bitten through them so I've had to get rid of them.
Main stipulation is nothing that claims "non spill" or has any kind of valve as I don't like them and as a result Chris can't work them. TIA
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.

We've got our 6 week check tomorrow. I can't remember my last ones (a very long time ago) - so anyone with recent memories, what do they do?

Do they look at your lady bits? (i'm wondering if I need to bother to tidy!)

    No, thank goodness! :D

Both times I have combined my 6w with baby's 8w check. I did have my BP checked but not sure whether thats due to me having high BP during pregnancy or my request to go back on the pill.

How quickly do those first 6w fly?!

Dormouse!!:eek: What? I do hope that's rare! I'm always dragging a baby hand around... Thanks for the warning!

Sami_Bee - We have sooo many cups, but I guess Joseph is a bit behind Chris (agewise), as my preferred is the avent ones (I decided yesterday ) as the valve keeps the liquid safe. I also liked his straw one (not the one you chew on ) but we lost it. Tom Tip ones are fab as long as he remembers to close them.
Ooh and my most recent purchase was the amadeus 360 - I defy any adult to drink from that!
My new decision was not to skimp on these as life is sooo much easier with a good bottle... just as long as they don't go missing... PS the siggs look fab!

Green Poos - Oz's poos were always watery and green and I asked every one about this - midwife, HV and GP because everything i read said that green poo may be cause for concern. Everyone I asked said it was perfectly normal as long as baby didnt seem to be in distress and was putting on weight. I had read about what Krystal said ie the snacking and too much foremilk and thats probably what was happening - Oz only ever fed for about 7 minutes at a time every 2 hours. But he was grand I think my milk eventually must have adjusted to his needs. At exactly 12 weeks his poos changed and rather than pooing every feed it was only once or twice a day and instead of green poop it was browny (sorry if TMI!!)

Re: changing boobs - sorry (who did i say this too i cant remember sorry) it wasnt until Oz was a bit older that he fed from both sides so ignore me and my burping advice!

6 week checks - my consultant only looked at my scar and only one person i know got their lady bits checked - best to check with your doctor beforehand or prepare your bits just in case!!

Sami bee - best non leaky cup i have is the free one my HV gave me (it came in the bookstart bag if you got one of those) its a little one with a red plastic lid. Other than that they ALL leak!

is that the one that looks like a normal cup but you have to kinda suck the rim? i've one of those and I can work it but I let my 3 year old niece try and she couldnt get anything out at all. Oz can use it as well but its a little big for his little hands.

Oh I forgot i've an interview on Friday  for a full time position - i'd rather have part time but theres very little out there, so i'm going to meet a childminder tomorrow to see what shes like just in case i actually get the job! But the thought of leaving Oz from 8.30 to 5.30 mon to fri is very difficult so I'm not sure what I'll do. Probably subconsciously sabotage the interview so I dont have any hard decisions to make!

  • i only bought that bloody 360 thing cos someone on here said it was marvellous... i cant get a drop out of it, let alone danny getting a drink! its ridiculous!
ive got about 10 cups of all different types in the cupboard and OH gives me the 'cup' speech everytime he sees me looking at one!
i recently got the nearest one we have had to a winner, its a tommee tippee kids on the go super sipper for 9 months +
    http://www.tommeetippee.co.uk/product/super_sipper_9m_/
it has a fold down spout and unless your child is shaking it upside down with the spout up (which of course happens a lot) then it IS leak proof, it alos has no valve or hard to get at suck for drink system

it is the only one ive been happy with so far... plus the blue one has got cute pirate dogs on it! lol
EDIT - much cheapness on ebay - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Tommee-Tippee-kids-on-the-go-super-sipper-beaker-9m-bl_W0QQitemZ370155915147QQcategoryZ20409QQcmdZViewItem

I always used avent magicups for Aimee... I did have a tomy cup that was green and looked like a normal cup, and you drink from the edge like a normal cup... Aimee was fantastic with it, and it never leaked... My friends son couldn't figure it out though... Not sure they make them anymore either... Gee I'm helpful :p
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

We had the 360 one as a freebie at a baby show we went to and Rhys loves it, we even bought a second one. It did take him a few attempts to master it and he is the one baby/toddler who I've seen be able to master it (other than me!)

We use the Amadeus anywayup cup and find thats pretty good, it only leaks if you put the lid on wrongly. Just getting another free from Feb M&B magazine (only paying P&P)...
Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.
