Okay - stupid question time!
Benjamin is breastfeeding really well - although he stays on the breast for a long time which makes me think he is comfort suckling (can be for up to 1 1/2 hours!) when he finishes he is all nice and settled yet I know he is going to need a big burp and a pump soon enough.
Do I wind him when I take him off - waking him up and unsettling him, or do I wait the 10 or 15 minutes for him to start to moan and then get his wind up?
Think I know the answer now I write it down!!!please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
Wind him as you go along.0

I have been stopping about half way through (once he has finished his big, deep sucking action) to wind him before I carry on but he's still struggling afterwards.
By as you go along do you mean keep stopping or whilst he is feeding?
Sorry - first timer!please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

I used to wind at the end of feeding, but sometimes earlier as she'd start wriggling a bit which meant she was feeling uncomfortable - so I'd sit her up and there'd be a burp.
I found my DD wasn't all that "windy" though - think lots of breastfed babies don't need quite as much burping, but you'll soon get to know what works best for yours.
Occasionally she would fuss for ages and I couldn't figure out what it was until she did an almighty belch.2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0 -
He woke up after nearly 3 hrs sleep. I wont let him sleep too much now for the rest of the day. He's woken up happy.
It gave me a chance to do some much needed tidying up around the house!
xx
i'm of the opinion that you should never wake a sleeping baby - if they sleep longer than usual they obviously need it, and if Oz ever sleeps longer than normal it never affects his night time sleep. "The more a baby sleeps the more a baby sleeps" is def true in our case.
Oz now has one 2 hour nap and a 1 hour nap in the day and still usually sleeps 12 hours at night (with one or two wakenings). I've had people tell me not to let him sleep so long during the day - but before he was 6 months he didnt nap during the day at all and he was so grumpy all the time and he slept very badly at night - at one point wakening every hour  for about 4 weeks. As soon as he starting napping properly during the day - his night time sleeping improved dramatically.DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

not stupid! with my Lo i burped him in between boobs and at the end - if he slept, i tried to sit him up and gently rub him and he would burp in his sleep. If he's only sleeping 10 or 15 minutes then stirring i would burp him and then try putting him in his cot/moses basket after a big feed and see if he'll go back to sleep for you.DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

DS wore it from about 6 months. They are individually knotted and will break if pulled too hard. There is a screw fastening so it's all smooth. They are meant to have them taken off when they are napping. I tucked it into his vest and under his tops - he never played with it.The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -

okay, another stupid question...between boobs? I have been told to keep him on 1 boob for a full feed. Although in the evening when he is most hungry I have been swapping him when he still isn't finished after 90 mins
My local breastfeeding group has a week off this week
Do have the health visitor coming this afternoon though.please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
I'm off work today as Olivia's sickness has now turned into diarrhoea, so here we are at home. I also have the runs back today too, with a vengeance... yuck! What fun.
Just spied on one of the other boards that sainsburys have a third off nappies and wipes etc until end of March, not sure if it's already been mentioned on here.0 -
