:rotfl: :rotfl: why can I see Mrs Doyle from Father ted in my head now going "will you have some tea" and "go on go on go on go on go on"

Nad my mil does some of the above too but wanting to give a small child tea!! lololololol....

..however I got a frosty reception the other day when I said that LO only drinks water or milk (and not much of that as I still bfeed and at 14mths that's slightly contentious also) and that I don't buy ANY squashes as they get drunk in preferences to all healthy drinks by OH and ds1 (and even me sometimes as they are addictive :D )....only to be told in a rather haughty manner that "sometimes it's nice to have a bit of flavour!" like I was depriving her poor son and grandson. lol.:rotfl:
As to the sleeping thing - did she actually bring up kids at all? - why on earth would you want to keep them up till 10pm just to make them sleep through - they would be knackered and it would drive you bonkers :D .

She does do the go on go on go on thing - well she did for the first 10 years i was going round there for the last 5 she just tries a couple of times lol. i dont drink tea unless i'm there and its just for a (reasonably) quiet life - i used to ask for a glass of water and the look i would get  !

She has also said what your MIL says - "its nice to have a bit of flavour". Her other grandchild was getting tea in her bottle from a very young age.

And as for the sleeping thing, I don't understand her reasoning either, its like she doesnt have a clue about babies, most people agree getting children to be early is great.

I meant to say earlier - I popped into Ikea yesterday and they were recalling the BARNSLING baby sleeping bag...thought I had better let people know.

Sami (or SB or Keely or Fritha or Ladybird if you are lurking) could you put the word out on the Given-Birth-Already-Thread too please?
Just passing this on, I looked on the web and can only find this http://www.recalls.gov.au/view_recall_detail.php?Recall_ID_Auto=15720

I bought a Rochinghams sprung mattress from www.kiddicare.com

Charlotte has been sleeping on it since birth and it still looks and feels as good as new. The cover comes off and can go in the washing machine, and it comes out almost dry, so it just needs a quick blow on the line or blast on the radiator. I'd recommend them.
Here I go again on my own....

It is really up to you, and your budget. We bought ours from http://www.babymattressesonline.co.uk/welcome.html. We bought a sprung one with a washable cover for much less than we would have paid elsewhere.

  • My experiences with my MIL are few and far between thank goodness even tho she only lives 1 1/2 hrs drive away - she saw DD2 when she was 12 weeks old and said to me she should have some cornbeef hash for her tea????? errr NO she cant when I said the guidelines were not to give solids until 6 months she complained all her other grandchildren where on macdonalds chips by 6 months. Thankfully she has only seen her once since then in aug when DD2 was 5 months old and she said oh shes a little fatty!! i said I wondered how that could be as she is slight for her age but then bit my tongue an havnt seen her since! On the other hand my mum who i see every day is fantastic... always askin could she have ..? never gives without my permission :rotfl:
