I agree with going for company. Surestart do "weigh, stay and play" here with a big mat full of baby toys on the floor, and you can stay as long as you like to play and chat with other Mam's.Here I go again on my own....0

i've never taken oscar to the HV clinic. HV came to house regularly until he was 16 weeks. I'm not too bothered about his weight either cos you'd know to look at him he's healthy, anytime we've been to GP about his chest they've always said he was thriving, and thats always nice to hear. I was a wee bit worried though when he was bad with the bronchialitis cos he wasnt eating his solids and even now he's slightly more picky than he was.
Have just noticed it looks like he's getting about 6 teeth coming through at once, he has his bottom 2, which came together, and noticed last week his top 2 are well on their way (his wee gum was bleeding the other day with these 2!), and then today noticed the white of about 4 other bottom ones coming through - including 2 that are further back in his mouth. Is that "normal"? to have so many at once? i know they might still take a while, but when his bottom 2 got to that stage they pushed through really quickly afterwards.
Poor little babies going through all that pain.DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

I would rather have root canal treatment than set foot in a baby clinic again. If I have a second baby I vow never to go - you guys must be very lucky if yours are nicer than a circle of hell!0

:rotfl: Not just me then:p. ~I weighed DS myself at Baby Cafe every week or two. I think I went to about 2 or 3 baby clinics. The last 2 times a HV saw DS was at his 7 month check, and his first birthday! The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
nadnad I think when it comes to teeth they do what ever they feel like!
Christopher got his in completely the "wrong" order some came with a month or two gap and other times he got 4 in the space of 10 days!
Nothing seemed to calm him with teething either so whenever they were sore I was up about 5 times a night
the only problem I've ever had with baby clinic is that even in winter when that room is full of mums n babies it's sooo hot like a sauna.
I went on a "course" called headstart that was run by the HVs and surestart and one week we got the HVs to measure our bub's height as well as weight it was funny that about 5 of the bubs were all the same height but completely different weights - variety is the spice of life!0 -
I went to the Clinic every week, then once a month, but then he got so big in comparison to the ickle babies that I felt out of place. But it was great while it lasted. But having even thousands of strangers tell you everything is right does not compare to my one Mother telling me everything is wrong!
My poor monkey seems to be teething too - on top of the cold. So we have pain, fever, waking every five minutes, not eating. General baby misery. Shouldn't last long though.:wall:0 -
NadNad - Ruby has two bottom teeth which came in September and now it looks like 4 of the top ones are coming all at once - she has been really picky and off her solids so I just make sure she has a few extra bottles.19.6.10 Weight loss 6lb0

we used to go to our clinic regularly, but a couple of things put me off
firstly as its at the doctors, we had to wait in the same room as all the ill people... im not a germophobe or anything but you never know what the person sat next to you has got and i dont want any of us picking up ANOTHER cold (or worse) just cos i wanted the baby weighed,
and second.... the HV, she is a nice enough woman i suppose but she is determined that im depressed, i had an anxiety disorder for most of this year, regular but out of the blue panic attacks and the beginnings of agrophobia, so i went to the doc and went on citalopram,
as some of you know thats an anti depressant but it also curbs anxiety and stops panic attacks, as soon as i started on them she stopped speaking to me properly, its almost as if she was talking sympathetically to a child, she would speak to my OH about me like i wasnt in the room and constantly tries to push 'groups' on me when ive made it quite clear im not the feelings sharing group therapy type...
im sure what she does is probably very helpful for some people but shes got me all wrong!
im off the tablets now, feel 100% better, havent had an attack for months and months and everytime i see her, she still tilts her head to the side and asks me if im feeling a bit low
honestly it makes me want to pummel her with the yellow book!0 -
People can be so patronnising can't they CG?? I'm glad your feeling better though and the citlopram helped. Is the "yellow book" and babies health book cos here its red?
Lots of teeth coming through apart from in this house, Jack hasn't had any for ages and ages and we are still waiting for Molly to start. I'm not in any hurry though, the later the better so I'm told. Jack was nearly 11 months before his first tooth so we aren't expecting great things from Molly either. Doesn't seem to stop her from eating finger food either.
I wish i'd had a weigh stay and play group near me when Jack was tiny, I was so lonely for months and months.
Oh and nearly forgot, another "proud mummy moment", today Molly stood alone for a few seconds balancing really well, we are going to help her practise a few times a day as she's desperate to walk and constantly pushes her walker round the lounge. I've also looked for tippy toe walking when she is and she defo flat footed, stomp stomp. So i guess our one is ok, well it did Jack fine and was a bargain at a school fair for 50p.0
