Agutka: I can't believe they tried to force feed you poor boy!
Chris flutters between the 9th and 25th percentile on his weight chart but luckily me n hubby were both titches when little so the grandparents are finemy mummy friends are jealous coz their kids are so heavy to carry and have to keep buying clothes, when Chris is pretty light and he's just moved up a size after having worn holes in loads of his stuff coz he's been in them for about 10months - very MSE
Jjust remind the nosey ones that he his growing at a perfectly normal rate and that in these days of a "child obesity epidemic" your thankful he isn't a chubby boy xx
and forget the housework and have a rest!0 -
Thanks guys. I can't have a rest though - there is no real reason for me needing one, that's the weird thing! I did manage to do some ebaying, so maybe I'll get a few extra pence soon (all the memories of unsold items came flooding back to me from way back when I did this for a job!).
Hubby's car is on lease, hence have to keep it pristine  whoops.
Savvy_Sue - I have a HV? Haven't seen her since Joseph was a scrap (MIL's word). I'm just on a lot of medication (thank you baby) so there are lots of side-effects to blame.
:wall:0 -
Yes, Agutka, you have a HV. Bypass her if she's no good, but having small children IS tiring, so you may well need a nap. if you're on medication, maybe that needs a review. Please don't just accept this pooey feeling.Signature removed for peace of mind0

Ignore the relatives Agutka. I've got two boys. Joshua has always been painfully thin and James used to be chubby as a baby, but lost it when he was critically ill as a toddler and has been painfully skinny since.
My Mam came round yesterday morning and James (age 9) was running round in his underpants, and my Mam commented that he looks like someone from a refugee camp! You can see all his ribs and hip bones sticking out and there's not a scrap of fat on him.
However yesterday he ate 3 Weetabix and a glass of milk for breakfast and a packed lunch with a round of sandwiches, yoghurt, a sweet mince pie, a banana and a clementine. He had a packet of crisps when he came in from school as he was "staaarving", then polished off an adult sized portion of chicken jalfrezi and rice for tea. Later on I let him have a few spare chocolates from a Christmas gift I made last night. That's pretty much a typical day, so I've no idea where he puts it all!
Both boys eat like horses and they are rarely ill and full of beans, so I've stopped worrying about them being underweight. I did wonder if their slim builds will change when they get older and discover beerHere I go again on my own....0 -
I did wonder if their slim builds will change when they get older and discover beer
My dh is like that, he can put away so much I suspect hollow legs, very very skinny until he discovered beer now he's filled out a bit and has a little pot belly! In fact our friend's wii fit told him he needed to lose a bit of weight!
I on the other hand put on weight by walking past Tescos! I'm hoping Celia will be somewhere in between us but so far she's charging up the centile thingys!
Which reminds me, does anyone have ideas of ways to keep Celia (a nearly three month old who's just discovered playing) amused? We do have a fair amount we do but I feel it's all a bit samey for her so would be interested to hear ideas :-)Comping, freebieing and trying to pay the mortgage off early!0 -
regarding weight of babies, i didnt know until a little while ago there were different charts for bf and ff babies, hv never mentioned it, but GP did. I always wondered cos he feeds well but stayed on or below the 25 centile, but just checked a BF chart and he's on 50th centile, he just hit 19lb and hes 6 and a half months, i think he must have had a growth spurt recently cos all of a sudden he's really heavy in my arms.DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

Agutka: do you go to baby clinic to get him weighed? I was a bit lonely when Chris was small (before I made friends at various groups) so I used to go to clinic every week, the clinic is run by the HV so you can run any problems you experience by them as and when and then you'll have proof on paper to rub in the faces of anyone who claims your son is too thin! I now have a really good relationship with my HV and Chris loves her coz we saw her soo much at clinic.
In our GP surgery the baby clinc is run by at least 2 HV so if you don't like the one you were allocated you can speak to the other one
PS. OMG!!! Chris is now 23 mths  I can't believe my baby will be 2 in a month!0 -
Don't get too hung up on weights and charts. As long as they look healthy, are feeding well, are full of beans, etc., then don't worry about it.
I've just checked Charlottes health book. Shes 19 months now, and she's been weighed 12 times since she was born. About 8 of those were home visits by the midwife or health visitor, so I must have only taken her to the clinic about 4 times! Here I go again on my own....0 -
Just in case it came across like it, I'm not suggesting anyone should become obsessed with weights. I went to clinic for company really, but if you can see that weight gain is nice n steady then you can tell anyone who offers their opinion that his weight gain is steady and normal (and if your feeling a bit firery - that their kids must have been fat
)
