In Lisburn, Longstone Street is a little place which serves lovely food at a reasonable price. It is called Coopers. They do a lovely Sunday lunch too and we have been there often for meals. You can bring your own alcohol too if you like. A 3 course meal for two of us(delicious) was about £18 and the service excellent. Do give it a try if you are ever in Lisburn.Do a little kindness every day.;)0

Just been to the newly refurbished salty dog in Bangor. Great decor, atmosphere, views, bar, food & service. In other words I'd recomend it0

Well a few of us went to graffiti on Ormeau Road last night and it was just awful. I originally made the booking for 7.30pm and then rang back to change it to 8pm which the staff member I spoke to said wasn’t a problem. We were told that they wouldn’t have an evening menu but we could order from the day menu and there would be specials which I thought sounded fine, boy was I wrong.
We arrived on the night and were the only people where which wasn’t the staff’s fault but here was no atmosphere there because of it. We were told as soon as we were seated that we needed to hurry up as they would be closing early. When we asked what time that meant we were told they would be closing at 10pm which as it was just after 8pm we thought was fine, wrong again. The chef then very rudely interjected that the staff would be leaving at 10pm, not just closing and that would be the time we would be leaving at also.
The menu mainly consisted of breakfast items and sandwiches which was totally unsuitable for an evening time service. There were some specials which didn’t turn out to be great. We ordered and got our food. 4 of the 5 of us chose the steak sandwich which was lacking in the amount of steak, they only had about half a small steak in each one and about one onion between all four sandwiches which meant you got mostly bread when you took a bite, which was also on the stale side might I add ( not much special about it really). There were only about 8 chips on each portion and when one of our party asked for another portion of chips we were told the fryers had been turned off even though we had only received our food about 5 minutes before hand.
When we finished our plates were cleared and within about 5 minutes we were asked to pay the bill as they needed to do the till. The chef then came out and opened the front door to take in the tables outside which let in the freezing cold March night time air. The staff then mopped the floors and the smell of bleach was overpowering. If this wasn’t a big enough hint to get us to leave they sat at the table behind us with their coats piled up staring at us. We could feel them willing us to get out. Now I could understand if this was 1am but it was 9.40pm, just after the time most restaurants would still allow people to come in and begin a meal, not be waiting with tapping foot on customers to leave. We were only there just over an hour and a half at this stage, hardly like we had taken up a table all night on them. And even if we had we were paying customers, the very people that allow restaurants to stay open and who they are supposed to encourage to come in, not try and kick out!!
The chef then came over and told us we would have to leave as they needed to go home, this wasn’t even 10pm!!!! When I explained that I had made the booking and hadn’t been told about them closing early he quite aggressively and inappropriately started an argument with us saying that it was our fault that this was happening and we were told they closed at 10pm. We then explained we were just out for a good night out as we didn’t get out together that often at which point he snorted and said he could tell we didn’t get out that often. Why take a booking for 8pm if you’re not prepared to allow people to spend a bit of time over the meal.
All in all the experience was horrendous, the staff were rude and I wish I could say the food made up for it was it was poor also. Basically don’t waste your time and money going to Graffiti, head to L’Etoile across the road, you’ll get a good meal for a good price and wont be verbally attacked by the ignorant staff.0 -
Jules2904 - I'm not in the least surprised at your experience. I haven't been in there for years because I found it very rough and ready - wouldn't have minded that if the prices had been more reasonable for what you got.
By the way,a good place for lunch is Soul Food across the road. It's a bit pricey but the food is nice and fresh.0 -
