Yep Ellie - was there last week. Great meal, lovely atmosphere - no smoking at all in there.
jmcateer - tried Brewers Fayre the other week too. Again good food, good relaxing atmosphere, couldn't tell you about the vouchers though.0 -
Over the last couple of weeks I've had a few excellent lunches from Cafe Essence, Hamilton Road, Bangor - it's on the first floor - just down the road from PaPa Joes (same side, towards Hamilton House) It's a bring your own wine, etc which can save a penny or four.
The menu at lunch time is small but very very good - I'd recommend the seafood crepe with a bowl of salad, if that's your sort of thing (certainly rings my bell). Also had the pasta with chicken and mushrooms - yum - and the scampi is freshly prepared (none of your frozen muck) with a very light crispy batter - the chips are home made and yummy as well! My friends tried the steak and other items and not a complaint was heard... The puddings, well, we were glad we all had one! - the waitress was delightful and very helpful too. Portion sizes are very good (forgot to mention the freshly made soups have been very tasty.) For what you get on your plate - the prices at lunch are very good - around £6 for a maincourse, puddings £3 (I think). They even serve a few kids meals - all freshly prepared too.
My friend has been in the evening and she - and her party of a dozen - had a brilliant meal!
Hope you give it a try and find it the same.0 -
Has anyone been to the Anglers rest in the ballymoney/kilrea area recently? it is my mums 60th soon and we are thinking of going there, or can anyone reccomend a good place, it has to be simple food my mum is very fussy, a meat and potato kind of person, and within reasonable travelling didtance of ahoghill.By the way i can reccomend the Happy Villa in Galgorm, in my opinion the best chinese around.0

Re Posts about The Stables it has been sold along with all Carmichaels businesses except Morrisons and The Ross Park - the new owners will be looking for a tenant, haven't ruled out redevelopment in the future. Likely to be all downhill from here on!0

For cheap comfort food that you can feed to your kids without feeling like the worst parent in the world, nothing comes close to Spuds. It was founded in 1972 so it's survived the Troubles (I suspect they had 'friends' mind you!)
Tried Spuds for first time in my middle aged life today. Have to agree with previous posters it was absoloutly delicious and so cheap. And to think I have been driving past it every day for years.0 -
Has anyone had a meal in this establishment before. My son graduates in Coleraine on the 3 July and we want to go out for lunch afterwards, but I do not know the standard of restaurants in this area.
Help and personal recommendations are warmly welcomed.
