Was in The Quayside in Newry on Sat night, and they had a special on for a 16oz Sirloin, with choice of spud and onion rings, for £10.00. Steak was great, and plenty of chips.
I've also had Sunday lunch there recently, and at £6.95 for the carvery, it's not the cheapest, but it was all good quality grub.
In contrast, had Sunday lunch in Bellini's on the same road, and it was awful. Undercooked vegetables all the way. Are these people afraid to cook?0 -
AJ's Diner in Crossgar. Great food in a friendly atmosphere. Huge salads. Only downside is that you sometimes have to join a queue.0

The happy villa in galgorm, Gillies bar at galgorm manor, the thatch in broughshane and the country man and tullyglass in ballymena are all good.0

The Jharna on the Lisburn road has got to be the best Indian in NI. I love Indian food and have tried many...but this is a real gem. Mouth watering; generous portions - take my advice share a rice with a friend and ditto for the nan - really a good experience all round - great atmosphere good staff offer of a free drink at the end of our meal and on entering customer comments have won a bottle of wine when we return. Only downside is stairs to gain access , but do not be put off by horrid green windows from outside - internally very well done.0

Are they any other nice eateries in or around the Ballymena area that anyone can recommend?

The Pavilion at Galgorm golf club is really nice.
And Rosspark hotel and Leighmohr hotel do really good food, but are a bit lacking in atmosphere. Double Happiness is a really nice Chinese place, but again its not the sort of place where I think you would linger for the whole evening. The food is lovely in the Grouse, but its very much a pub.
I think, for the size of the town, there is a bit of a shortage of nice eating places round Ballymena.....0 -
Thinking of trying La Tasca in the Odyssey in Belfast, anyone tried it?0

I can recommend The Point at Ballyhackamore.
Went there on saturday, we had 2 main course, 2 desserts, 2 drinks + think it was £24. nice friendly helpful staff.
and best of all strictly no smoking.
Went to Springsteens on Lisburn Rd the previous Friday evening, think they need new staff, we were left for 45 minutes between courses. Will stick to the branch on Botanic Ave in future.
Going to try Barnabys in Ballyclare in the next few weeks, will report back the results.0 -
I always liked Giraffe in Stranmillis. Good food - just don't get a seat beside a group of 40something ladies have their treat night out. You won't be able to hear yourself with the cackling0

great meal; atmosphere and service in pizza express on Lisburn road - relaxed and unhurried at lunchtime over the half term break - will go again and this from a die-hard Greens fan!!0

The Ava in Bangor is excellent, never had a bad meal in it yet0
