I haven't, I was telling the story of the meal at MIL's house, the thought of pork lasagne revolts me wherever it's from, I also wouldn't eat turkey mince.

The seafood pizza revolts me too. As do the 'chicken' pies.

I don't particularly like any lasagne, I'm quite fussy when it comes to meat, I like things like chicken breasts, steak etc and love to pick at a joint of any meat when it comes out the oven as I can see what I'm eating, I don't like it when things are 'hidden'.

I wouldn't bother shopping at Aldi as they don't have everything I need there, I wouldn't waste time going to different shops when I can get everything I need in one shop.

I would, however, try Aldi's face cream, I haven't got round to it yet, must go soon though before I start to get wrinkles!

Fair enought Zoeleigh - thats your opinion and you are entitled to it.

Some people are so strapped for cash (or don't like lining the poskets of big companies) that they will visit different supermarkets to get the best from each, hence the thread on MSE "Whats good at Aldi/Lidl?" Yes I say I'm an Aldi fan but I can't get everything I need in there and do shop elsewhere alot.

I think it's a bit shortsighted to write off a supermarket based on limited expererience, I've had dreadful rotten fruit and veg from Tescos but I still go in there when they've got decent offers on.

If you can find one supermarket that supplies everything you want/like at a price you are willing to pay then good for you.....me I will continue to shop around cos thats what my budget dictates. I'm grateful to other people on MSE who post any good deals/terrific buys etc and spread positive information.
  • Aldi offers quality products are affordable cost. compared to other super market it offer slight less cost for the products. so if you want a cheaper cost product you have to giveup the quality. so its better to take a good product at affordable cost in aldi.
  • All these cheapo shops have a stinky whiff in them, I walk straight back out again holding my nose:D
  • I have to agree with avstar to right off a supermarket at the first visit is a little shortsighted. If you look at the quality of the food at Lidl's or Aldi's they are off high quality. Every shop is putting up prices for goods is no wounder Aldi have had to follow suit.
  • Went for a wander around ALDI with hubby yesterday. (Refurbished store about 6 months ago) as we keep trying and never like it.

    I hate the place!

The biscuits/crisps ect are very poor quality, the cleaning/ washing stuff is cheapo, the fruit and veg we do not even look at because the last lot was mouldy the next day, bread has been mouldy by the time we get home in the past so we do not look at thatat all. All the TAT in the middle just blocks up the shop, I picked up 5 things in a row with no big yellow price poster ( and I did walk round in circles in case it was missplaced), the beer and wine is not any cheaper and after all that I just wanted to get back out again (via the groups full of big/old people in anoraks that seem to use the place as a y gossip shop.

NEVER AGAIN. and yes it does smell awful.

Not based on trying one product though, I have tried a few different things and don't like the food. I don't mind chocolate things from there and I keep meaning to try the face cream.

But personally I don't think the food is good quality, from what I've tried anyway, or maybe it's just my taste buds.

I too am grateful for any offers posted on this site, doesn't mean I have to convert to Aldi.

I too shop around a bit to try different shops and see how far my budget will stretch, I have found though from going to several different shops for one weekly shop, I end up spending more, maybe due to the different offers.

I'm not knocking anyone who shops at Aldi, good on you if you like the food and get it at a good price, I just don't like it.
If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in :D

I do agree that it is cluttered, I also think the choices are very limited.

But then seeing as there are a few of you who swear by it I might even go and have another look! (not to buy pork lasagne, chicken pies or seafood pizza though)

I like Aldi, I like the diversity of the products and I like the prices! The household items e.g dishwasher tabs, washing up liquid and kitchen roll are very good quality and do the job better than other branded names. I like the bread and the veggy as well and believe me I am picky !

Horses for courses I think , and whilst it isnt a "one stop shop" it does provide a contrast .

as the title says went to aldi at the weekend i found it to be expensive [i buy a lot of asdas value range !] and disorganised.i bet if you went to any supermarket and tried their value lines you would save money and still get quality items !

sounds like someone who has prob. been to marks and spencer and waitrose and therefore little old aldi bears no comparison..
