We are now hoping for Saturday June 5th (after the Bank Holiday and before the World Cup!), so that we can start trying for a baby earlier. We want to get married in Gretna then and then come back to Bowness on Windermere and have a meal at a place called Lucy4 - it has a roof terracce and we had a lovely time there during a holiday last year. Thinking of hiring a boat for a private charter the evening before for the wedding party as well.

Just hoping to get the dates confirmed over the weekend so I can start planning!

I want this for my dress: http://www.monsoon.co.uk/content/ebiz/monsoon/invt/45019472/45019472_m1.jpg but I haven't tried it on yet.

Good luck to the May brides! xx

  • I let slip to my mum last night that I'm not spending any coins under 50p and I'm bagging them up for the wedding fund on top of my regular standing order. Bless her - she emptied her purse of everything under 50p.

Hi all, would it be okay to join your club?

My wedding is set for 12th November 2009 :)

    The story so far...
Me and my OH met online (we are both female btw) and we've been together for about 10 months now :)

Originally I was going to wear a suit, and C (my OH) a dress, but I've lost a lot of weight in the last couple of years and started to really like the idea of a corset type top to show off my now skinny waist :D
I *hate* shopping so was very happy to absolutely love the first dress I tried on (a bargin too at £200:)). So we are now both wearing dresses.
C did spot a dress she wanted at Debenhams, but it is now out of stock so she has to look elsewhere.

We are having a small civil ceremony of 40 close family members and our best friends as best 'man'.
Then we are heading to this hotel for the wedding breakfast, and later having a reception in the same hotel with an additional 60 guests.
We've decided instead of a disco to have a ceilidh, so it should be fun for all the younger ones too :)

To cut down on price one of my managers is driving us to the ceremony in his new Merc :D and instead of hiring a photographer we are getting family members to take pics (my dad is handy with a camera) and just requesting copies.

We still have to sort the flowers, C's dress, the honeymoon (decided on New York) finalise the price with the hotel (when we get everyones meal options back) speeches and the cake!

I'm panicking because we seem to have it all under control! I'm sure we're forgetting something!

    Thanks for reading :)

Lilian1977 - Hope you get the date you want! I love the idea of hiring a boat the night before.

x_Raphael_xx sound like you have it all under control, your hotel looks lovely!

Having a dilemma now. My bridesmaid (only having one) has just said it's her boyfriend's 30th birthday 4 days after our planned wedding date and he was planning to celebrate the same weekend. All the other possible dates around then are either bank holidays, end of the football season or during the world cup (we want to be outside the football season as a lot of our friends are big fans). If I move it forward to April I'm running the risk of rain, especially in Gretna. If I move it back to after the world cup it's mid July which is likely to be much more expensive for hotels in the Lake District.

What should I do? Is it bad form for me to ask her to ask her boyfriend to celebrate the weekend after? It will be his birthday on the Wednesday so, to me, waiting till the Friday doesn't seem like a big deal? Or should I really try and reschedule?

Lilian, if it was me I keep your date. Why should you change cos it's his birthday? If you reschedule you'll only find out that someone else can't go!
I don't think it's bad form to ask him to wait 2 days after :)

Thanks Raphael. Starting to feel stressed now, had my first tears this morning! I don't want loads of people there, I don't want the big white traditional wedding where all eyes are on me, but it's so hard to find any websites that just take you through the process of a simple wedding. Any tips?
