Hi
My H2B proposed at the end of January and we are getting married in August. We already have everything important booked or purchased. It is definately do-able, especially if you have a supportive H2B. My other half is jointly involved in the planning and has been doing all the hagglingwhich has resulted in some great deals. We even managed to get our preferred venue and this was for 1st August which is a Saturday!
The best advice I could give is don't panic or get stressed and if anyone offers to help ....bite their hand off!!! I already have my mates earmarked to help with putting together the invites. Oh and make sure you book the venues and photographer as soon as you can. We provisionally reserved 3 venues whilst we searched and decided, they can always be cancelled up until you sign a contract or put down a deposit.
Good luck, and congratulations!!!:j0 -

Hello Ladies,

in castle Hluboka nad Vltavou, southern part of the Czech Republic, has anyone else also decided to get married abroad to save money?0 -
Hi there
Can I please join the others who are getting married on 5th September 2009?
We got engaged at the beginning of December after being together almost 10 years (better late than never, hey!). Realised today that we have less than 6 moths to go.
So far, here's what we have sorted:- Booked ceremony venue (Great Hall in a girls' boarding school) and paid deposit
- Booked reception venue (OH works for the Ministry of Defence so they're letting us have it in the Officers' Mess on the army base - bargainous and great food)
- Given notice of marriage
- Booked registrar
- Ordered invitations (Dad's cousin is a printer so hopefully he'll do them as a wedding present)
- Written extra information sheet to go in with invitations
- Organised someone to do flowers and venue decoration (OH's cousin is a venue dresser and florist - hoping she'll do it for cost price)
- Signed up for guest list at John Lewis
- Bought fabric and pattern for BM's dresses (lovely light gold raw silk)
- Booked hotel for family the night before and night of the wedding, plus room for us on the wedding night
- Bought wedding bands (love mine - want to keep on trying it on!)
- Meeting with photographer tomorrow. Will book with him if we like him.
...and most importantly, the dress has been ordered. Can't wait 'til June when it should have arrived!
Still to do: Absolutely loads! Off the top of my head...- Buy wine for meal and toast (the Mess isn't charging us corkage - bonus!)
- Write vows
- Honeymoon (though OH could take the lead on that one)
- Find hairdresser and make-up artist
- Buy shoes for me and BMs
- Make bunting
- Choose music and readings for ceremony
- Order cake (have found cupcake company and tried them before - just need to meet with them)
- Buy presents for mums, BMs, best man and ushers
There has to be more than that but can't think at the moment.
I can't believe how much of a bridezilla I've become. I can remember once saying that if I were getting married I wouldn't be worried about whether the flowers were the same shade of pink as the napkins but somehow these details have become all important. A reality check from OH is useful from time to time!
Hope the planning is going well for all you brides to be.

Just found this page whilst looking for cheap stationery - think I'll be coming here quite a lot from now on though!!!
Stationery is my big thing at the moment though - will be happier when I can weigh up how much that will cost!! I really don't want anything fancy so any suggestions much appreciated!!

Congratulations to the recently-wed
Thanks to the people who've posted pics, they all look gorgeous! And I'm pretty sure I've just seen one of you on the Wrapor website....
Well, I'm getting very excited now - had a call from the bridal shop earlier to say that my dress has arrived :j:j I need to organise a long lunch one day this week so I can go for my first fitting
Also had a lucky find at the weekend. I'm making my own table centrepieces using candles standing on round mirrors. I've been looking at mirrors on ebay and they were looking like costing about £30 including postage (I need 6). I was looking around a garden centre on Friday and wandered into the candles section (in a garden centre) and they had the exact sized mirrors I wanted for £1.99 each!! Bargain! :j (well, some were priced up at £2.29 as they were slightly different, but I made sure the £1.99 ones were on top and got charged that price for the lot
Just over 6 months to go, and it feels like it's all coming togetherSomething's bound to go wrong soon!!! :rotfl:
