Hello, I've been a lurker for a while, trying to get through the wedding tips thread! Thought it was time for me to join the site and get involved in all the fun. I can't believe all the good advice on this site, it's wonderful to know that it's possible to have a lovely wedding without breaking the bank!

We've been engaged for about 6 months - I proposed to him! Our wedding wont be till 2010, haven't set a date yet though.. I can't wait!

    Thanks!

What's your favourite colour Lorne? Do you prefer things light or dark?

I was trying to choose between blue/silver or cream/gold. Then I found out the background of the ceremony place is green, so that ruled out the blue. Plus it was difficult to get blue flowers and suchlike easily. So cream/gold it was.:D

Red seems quite popular these days, as does pink. My cousin had Purple/silver at her wedding, which was lovely.

I'm more of a dark person I think (always wearing black), love silver, so maybe I've just answered my own question! I'm not really a pink or girly girl so that is ruled out. I think I need to find out what flowers are in season in March! Oh I am so disorganised!

Silver is nice - especially when matched with one other colour - it gives you a wide scope of things to choose from.

And it's easy to get loads of stuff in silver :j

Thanks Louise, I think silver sounds good a a quick check on ebay showed the huge range of things to choose from. Goes well I think, there are silver bits on my dress and rings are platinum. We now just need to choose a matching colour and we are going to do the flower bit and see if that gives us any suggestions. Thanks for the help Louise.

Do your invites match your cream and gold theme?

Yeah - that was the easiest part:D Cream with Gold edging and gold weding rings on them. Invites/Thank you cards/Place cards/cake boxes and serviettes all the same design

Mind you, they had them in white/silver as well so wouldn't have been a prob either way ;)

    Me too!!!

Likely to be summer 2010 or 2011 but not sure yet. Depends on finances.

We're going to Las Vegas, then will tell everyone on our return. I hate the idea of a white wedding, and all the stress and planning that goes with it. Sorry girls, but reading all your posts about bridesmaid dresses, favours, venues, etc. etc. brings me out in a cold sweat!

I've also decided that the white dress isn't for me. I've had a look around the internet, and there's nothing I like. But what I do like is the proper vintage, 1950s prom dress with MASSIVE skirts. So that is what I'm going for - preferably in scarlet!

I went to a wedding recently where the colour scheme was black and white, I couldn't really picture it beforehand but it looked absolutely stunning.
Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!

    Please can I join?! 19th June 2010!

Booked the chapel, reception venue and photographer - and I had my first moment of weakness this weekend and went into a dress shop!

Colour scheme is going to be dark purple - a few people think I'm mad to do this in June, so I may need to get the bridesmaid dresses etc the previous winter!
