My vet advises vaccination every year, for the reason of protecting your pet not to make money. If people dont vaccinate every year as the vet and vaccine data sheets suggests then they are putting other peoples pets at risk.

I have seen puppies with Parvo, and it is not pleasant for them, thats if they even pull through, which many dont. I think the reason we dont see too many with these infectious diseases is the fact the majority of pet owners get their pets annually vaccinated.

I wonder why these vets aren't telling you that you get vaccines that last 3 years? My vet did. Much better for the dogs imo. Lepto and kennel cough jabs need annual, but distemper, parvo and hepatitis are guarenteed by drugs companies to last 3 years.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

  • I pay £28. I can get it cheaper (around £22 per dog, we have 2) but this vet is great and really gives them the once over. The other vets we went to weren't approachable and I really felt they were rushing us out the door.
I miss using my infinite coupons at Tesco!
2010 was the worst year ever :(
But 2011 so far has been a lot of fun! :j

  • cat's are more as they have to be vaccinated against Cat Lukemia aswell

My dog gets the lepto jab every year and the dp&h every 2 years. A friend of mine who used to be a vetenary nurse once told me that the 'annual' booster actually last about 15 months so I usually take him a month or so after the reminder comes through. So glad mine doesn't need KC anymore. He's 14 now and happily goes to a relative instead of kennels but he was never impressed with the squirt up the nose:rotfl:
  • Vets4pest @ Darlington Co. Durham have just quoted me £23.50 for the booster and to pay a further £70 at the time and the rest are free for the dogs life and this is transferable to another mangy mutt if your little "Chewbacca" (Ate my cars interior, hence the nickname:mad: ) Benji, pops his clogs.

    Hi There,

I have searched unsuccessfully for the phone number of this place, having 5 dogs and a cat it would be a useful place to go, I live in Stockton-can you help?
    Thanks
    Christine
  • I think my dogs booster cost about £22. Not exactly sure what it was for though so I'd have to check.

My vet would never tell me that an annual jab actually was gauranteed to last for three years. I remember one of the first times I took my dog to the vet because she had kennel cough...ended up spending £18 on a worming tablet "just incase". At least !!!!!! Turpin wore a mask!

It doesn't last 3 years- part of the vaccines last for 3 years but part of it (lepto) is still a yearly thing-we vaccinate lepto yearly and DHPPi every 3-but they still need to come back every year-lepto and parvo do happen in dogs when their vaccines have lapsed (yes the companies say MAXIMUM of 14-15mo between boosters-but that is the maximum, and not written in stone so depending on vaccine and vets may not apply-any longer and if something goes wrong-you have no recourse!)

It does depend on the vaccine manufacturer though-the one we use is a 3 year DHP but others may vary-more or less-so please-do not automatically think of your vet as a robber-we are generally just trying to keep your pet healthy

    That's what I said.

My sister's vet told her that dogs needed to be vaccinated for distemper, hepatitis and parvo, annually. He neglected to tell her about the 3 year vaccine until she asked about it.

  • I get my Jack Russell *boosted* every year for just under £30. That includes a check of her heart, joints, ears, eyes, teeth, weight, claws, skin, a look for fleas and a check for any possible illness that may be about to pop up.

We are in south Essex and from what some of you have said about Essex prices I seem to be getting a good deal.
