My dog is 14 months old(mad springer spaniel!)& is due his annual booster jab, just phoned vets to book it and they told be it would cost £29.82!
I was expecting about £20, does this price vary from vet to vet or is it a standard price?

Hi Rach,
I think it must vary as we've just had our dogs boosters done and it cost £26.80 each.
There is another vets near us that charges a bit less- but we had a bad experience with them so would rather pay that little bit more.
It might be worth shopping around as you can have the booster done at any vets. When you get to the end of your tether, tie a knot and hang on.0 -
Before I read the responses, my gut reaction was "around £30". Does your vet give the mutt a once-a-year quick checkover too?Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0

Just to add since DFC's response-ours also had their hearts listened to, got weighed and our eldest dog had his ears checked as he has ear condition. When you get to the end of your tether, tie a knot and hang on.0

Thats about what it cost for my dog and cats too but they do get a check-up as well.. My new Vets run a scheme where you pay £80 for a cat or dog and it gets all boosters done for the rest of their lives for no more money. I have paid for it for Speedy but not the cats yet.
There are quite a few branches out there too. Just Google Vets4Pets and you will find them. When I moved down here last year I asked every dog owner I met which Vets they recommended and Vets4Pets came out top. They have been absolutely brilliant too..0 -
well have booked him in for tomorrow morning, there are only 2 vets around here & the other one is about the same, & yes it does include a thorough health check. thanks for the replies! x0

Consider yourselves lucky......at my vets it's £52!!!!!!
That's what happens when you live in the Southeast (Essex) I suppose.....0 -
I pay £25 but a new place has been advertising on local radio who seem to just do jabs - start from £12 so will ask them for price next year before going to normal vets.0

I contacted the vets to find out how much the yearly booster was as they were going into kennels, paid £28.50 for dog and £24.95 for cat.
Rang kennles to confirm jabs were all up to date and was asked if the dog had been given kennel cough, had to admit as this is the first year of owning a dog i didn't have a clue what they were on about so read off what was on the dogs vaccination card to be told she hadn,t had it and must get it a minimum of 14 days before they would have her in kennels, rang vets back to find out why i had not been informed of it and was told cos i hadnt asked! This then set us back another £20. If you are goin to put the dogs in kennels it is advised they have this and it is not an injection but a vial of medication up their nose.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

If you have a vetsavers near you worth checking it out I think it costs about £15 but that was about 3 years ago since I managed to use them due to transport issues.
Heres a link for the site, however it appears to be loading VERY slowly indeed
