I did well today! Went past a thorntons cafe and a cadburys shop and only looked in feeling my belly grumble, no make up either. And I was telling someone I work in the office with about my giving up magazines and she said she'll bring hers in for me when she's read them :rotfl: *fingers crossed for the so many other days.... how many days is it now?*
  • OK I'm in - I will give up buying junk - by that I mean no biscuits, cake, sweets, chocolate etc, Kids have told me that I can't give up buying crisps as they need them for packed lunches :o hopefully I can drop a dress size by Xmas party time.
  • I feel everyone is surpassing me here! I feel a bit measly just banning crisps, lol. I will put an end to cakes and biscuits too! Along with my trips to the gym, I should be a stick in no time! hehe

Well done to everybody getting in the spirit of things! Lets see how jolly we get when the cold turkey feeling hits!

Well done Cinny - I would have found that so difficult to do - I absolutely love Thorntons.:T

  • Nice to see everyone excited about their challenges. It's particularly impressive that you keep adding to your lists! So far I've not bought bread, cakes or biscuits for 3 days and have just baked my own rolls today. They didn't turn out great but I have 97 more days to get it right :rotfl:. The cosmetics ban is a bit easier but I'm rationing my expensive stuff, must make sure it's not all used up before the Xmas parties!

Oh what the hell, I'll stop buying sweets as well (but not choccy!).

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Well I think this is day 3 without choccie - I can see that this is going to be much harder than I thought. And then this catalogue dropped through the door with all these clothes that I hadn't realised before were going to be essential to my future well-being...how much chance do I have of getting through the next 97 days?
    Resolution:
    Think twice before spending anything!
  • I have stuck to it so far (thankfully was at a conference that had lots of free chocolate knocking around) but there could be a glitch coming up.

I have a job interview and have been money saving for so long that I don't really have anything that I can wear that will look like I have made enough of an effort. I have lots of lovely clothes but I really need a new suit to make the right impression (it is quite a big job, not the sort of thing I can chance it on)

Aaaaaargh, I was so determined to not buy any clothes.

OK, I give up, I'm going to join in! I've been thinking about it since day one... but I soooo love makeup and smelly stuff, I didn't know if I could do it.

I've had a look through the cupboards and I've got enough of everything to last me until Christmas (and I'm bound to get some stuff as pressies).

And yesterday I managed to resist 3 for 2 at a certain high street chemists - so I think I can do anything now!

Good luck everyone, and thanks for the challenge.
