  • right am gonn kick this up a gear. realised that i'm replacing buying cake/biscuits with crisps so i'm not going to buy them either!
Funny you should say that! I've noticed myself doing exactly the same thing so I think I ought to join you in giving up the crisps too.

  • I can go without make up/ shampoo/ deodorant/ shavers/ face wash etc/ soap/ perfumes/ etc till the end of the year as I have a good back log :rotfl:

Have actually won a lot of this stuff lately and have cool samples to use too, so yeah, its okay, :)

And I don't buy magazines unless it is a treat, or chocolate either (have lost 5kgs lately lol :T due to my OSness of late)

I will go one further and say I will not buy any clothes until the end of the year either. Have enough to make do on, and the weight loss means I can fit into clothes I bought earlier in the year intending to diet into :o

Good luck all I think this is a good idea

Going to a shopping centre today to face another one of my problems - a very big boots.

I don't really want to go, I just want to go to a hobbycraft nearby but the boyfriend says 'mareswell go while we're there' and if he's in one of his giddy moods he'll drag me around boots for the pure 'fun' of it. He's a meanie.

I'm doing well though! The Sun online has become my daily calling and I'm not missing chocolate that much anymore. And as far as make up goes, I just have to be very mean to the models in my head so I don't want it.

for martins £5 M&S voucher loop hole, it might help with your suit!
  • For the next 100 days I will not buy books in charity shops NOR will I buy any type of fabric to be used in my patchwork. I will go back to haunting the library and working through the 'fabric-mountain' in the spare bedroom
  • Girls Girls ... what are you thinking!!!
Have you not seen the new body shop range thats come out for Christmas!!
    you cannot miss out lol.

Thinking about it, if your aim is to not BUY and cosmetics and make-up for 100 days, there would be no problem in getting it for free would there? ?

Why not book a body shop party!? we bring the shop to you, and you will receive a free gift worth £20 for booking. Then depending on how much sales is on the night, would depend on how much free shopping you would get!
This way, you dont spend money, you get your friends too .....

if not sorry, but you could contact a consultant in your area
  • I have a job interview and have been money saving for so long that I don't really have anything that I can wear that will look like I have made enough of an effort. I have lots of lovely clothes but I really need a new suit to make the right impression (it is quite a big job, not the sort of thing I can chance it on)

Aaaaaargh, I was so determined to not buy any clothes.

What about dressing up something you have already with a scarf? Either one you have already or one from charity shop or even a new one - it will be a lot cheaper than buying a suit.

It is difficult though, but a new job is worth it so if you do need to get those new clothes then I would do so.;)

    Resolution:
    Think twice before spending anything!
  • After a shaky start to the day I have managed so far not to snack/scoff 45 bags of crisps in one sitting! YAAAAY ME!

Hope everyone else is doing O.K
    :p
  • Hi there Sachanut,

You asked for some recipes for beauty treatments you can make yourself so here are my favourites at the minute:

    Honey and Oats Face Scrub
    ½ cup uncooked oatmeal
    1 tbsp honey
    1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
    1 tsp ground almonds
Mix all the ingredients together into a paste. Moisten face with a warm facecloth then apply to face avoiding the sensitive area around the eyes. Let mixture dry, then remove with a warm, damp facecloth to reveal newly softened skin.

    Egg Shampoo
Strange as it sounds, this really works! Beat one large egg and work into your hair, then rinse out. The egg takes all the grease and dirt with it when it rinses off, leaving your hair shiny and clean (and smelling of nothing - I've tried this one a lot as it's really conditioning).

    Honey Conditioner
5 tbsp honey 3 tbsp olive oil
Mix the honey and olive oil together. (Use just 2 tablespoons of oil for normal hair to avoid over conditioning). Work a small amount at a time through dry hair until completely coated. Cover hair with a shower cap (or a plastic carrier bag if you haven’t stayed in a hotel room for years) and leave to marinate for 30 minutes. Remove shower cap and work copious amounts of shampoo through your hair before wetting, and then lather well. You may need to repeat the washing process if the hair still feels oily. This one's amazing for shiny easy to comb hair.

    Dry Scalp Remedy
    Half cup brown sugar
    Half cup olive oil
Mix ingredients well and work throughly over scalp, the brown sugar gently exfoliates the dry patches, leaving enough oil bnehind to moisturise the skin underneath.

I do have more but I've also noticed there's another thread with some recipes on this board too - what a great resource this place is!
