As for being PC, I hate the way the world has gone far to PC, my views are about treating people with respect.
Mate,at last we agree about too much PC.Remember elections are coming up and you and me must vote for a party that takes care of our interests first and foremost.0 -
But the disabled person who is visiting me has left their blue badge at home.
As I have no blue badge I have no knowledge of how the scheme works.
I regularly drive a disabled person to the supermarket and elsewhere. If we forget the badge, it's a pain so we try ever so hard not to.
Disabled spaces need to be ticketed, unfortunately, as there are too many selfish/able-bodied/lazy people who abuse them. Know anyone like that?0 -

When first my Dad and then my Mum became disabled, it was the devils's own job getting all the niceties in place for them to be awarded a badge. They had to have a letter from their own GP and see someone from Social Services (I think it was though I may be wrong, it was a long time ago now).
It's not the scheme that's corrupt, but the people using the badges illegally.
At the end of the day, anyone who parks in a disabled bay who doesn't need to, ought to be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. Saying that the penalty charges are unenforceable and therefore I will park wherever I want to is disgusting and I sincerely hope anyone with that attitude becomes disabled sooner rather than later
What a particularly nasty streak you have in you?Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
He could always ask. You tell me to read the thread yet cannot even be bothered to read the post you responded to, I've already dealt with the issue of my not using a blue badge are you now suggesting it be compulsory?
Yes it is to park in a dissabled bay. Just as it would be in the street. The scheme is there to help you. If you don't want to use it properly, then don't complain.0 -

Wrong again. It is illegal to discriminate between disabled persons, by treating a blue badge holder differently to a disabled person without one and in a preferential manner to the detriment of the non holder you breach the act.
It's interesting that you don't even take the trouble to spell the word "disabled" correctly considering you have such a passion about disability and despite the mulititude of examples in the responses you've had so far. Incidentally you are the only one doing so, this is not the only thing you are isolated in though and the least of your worries I would think.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

Possibly the ginger brigade thought they were being prejudiced or was there a genuine problem with the colour? EU perhaps (guessing here)
I wasnt happy with the stigma any longer, I gave it to my non disabled friend who just finished uni with me and started work in a small law firm. (needs it as parks in city centre and constantly on the move between business clients houses mostly inner city) - he offered cash for it but I turned it down, he said fine but if I ever need any legal advice I know where to find him, and true to his word I did one day quite soon later and I got some nice vouchers for being stopped by a security guard unlawfully after he wrote a firm letter to Hmv.0 -

I can't see how it is a pain. Just park up - no problem

I wasn't out to attain the moral highground, just voice my personal opinion, which I honestly believe is fair and just!
I tried to take my Mum out yesterday for a couple of hours, but we couldn't get near the shops she wanted to visit because all 5 disabled bays were full. Fair enough I thought, we'll wait for one to come empty. Then I saw a young woman come running out of the shop, yelling for her OH to come look at the price of something or other. He jumped out of the passenger side and disappeared into the shop as well.
Now I know it's not always possible to see a disability, but they could both jog at least a distance of 40 or 50 yards so I would hazard a guess that they were not disabled at all, just idle!
I ended up taking Mum home without her visit to the shops because we waited so long that she became exhausted with it all. I wonder if they would have felt any shame had I told them what happened....somehow I doubt it. My Mum is in her 80s and her visits to the shops are few and far between because of her health - do you wonder why I feel bitter against people who use the facilities when they don't need to?I let my mind wander and it never came back!0
