Thanks for sorting this Sarah, it was just going round in circles and I was getting dizzy.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

There are 30 pages of posts in this thread that I haven't read, but I wanted to say that it serves him right for parking in a disabled bay. You admit the car park wasn't busy, it wasn't THE ONLY available space for him to park in so he could use the cash machine. And even that wouldn't make it excusable.
The next time a disabled person has to make a long and possibly distressing journey in the rain from a parking space that they shouldn't have to be parking in, I'm sure they will feel glad that people like your husband aren't getting too wet walking from their car to the cash machine.
Everyone these days seems awfully keen on finding a loophole to get them out of something that is their own fault and they deserve, it is quite pathetic. Grow up and take responsibility for yourself and your actions.0 -
I've been lurking too sinstar, but even I can see that it's not a case of whether the person should have parked there or not. the key issue is these blessed private parkiing companies who think they can rob shoppers in this way.
IMHO there are much better ways of dealing with antisocial parkers than whacking a huge invoice on their windscreen.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -
Tim_Deegan wrote: »I would have thought that was obvious. A superstore would have far more traffic entering and leaving at busy periods than most other town centre car parks. This is because most people parking in the supermarket car park will only be shopping there, then will leave. Most people staying in town centre car parks will be there for far longer than those in the supermarkets. Also supermarket car parks are often bigger than most town centre ones that fill up too quickly. Supermarkets obviously want to have enough spaces for all their shoppers (the reason for the time limit on parking).
That's complete rubbish. You are trying to advise people how to get away without paying a legitimate charge.............I am saying why do people think they should have the right not to pay.
OFF TOPIC
Time and time again throughout this thread when you are floundering in your argument you come up with this rubbish. Show me one single post of yours on the entire thread that HAS been on topic, bearing in mind of course the title of the thread which I will remind you of once again here's the op for you.Parking ticket in Asda car park - Is this legal, can they take me to court?
On Friday my husband popped to Asda to get some cash out of the mini bank. As it was raining he parked nearest the machine in a disabled bay (I know he shouldn't have done this, but it was raining and car park was not mega busy). When he returned to his car it had a parking ticket on.
At first he thought it was a joke, so when he got back to work rang Asda who said it nothing to do with them, the car park is run by a private company and they have notices up with there terms on.
So they (Town and City Parking Ltd based in Scotland) issued a civil penalty notice demanding £20 payable within 10 days or becomes £40 after. It states - failure to respond will lead to civil action being taken for penalty and judicial expenses occurered. All verythreatening.
So is this legal or just a con to try to obtain money from us and other like us?
How will they find out who we are from the registration number would DVLA disclose this to a private company.
Any one come across this before?
Now perhaps you may like to contribute to the topic rather than persist in posting complete rubbish about the legalities of these extortion notes and how people must pay up?Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

That's because most of it is occupied by your posts which are irrelevant to the original posters question yet you persist in preaching your sermon day in day out.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

I have been involved in this thread for a long time, and most of the posters do tend to agree with me. .
Do they! :rolleyes:Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -
Correct. However the subject of this thread is invoices which are issued by PRIVATE Parking Companies. The owner has no legal obligation to say who was driving; and the PPC has no legal authority to insist that the owner says who was driving.
I know that, but it wasn't what you said.0 -

It tempting to further engage Tim Deegan and others, but this would drive this topic further off course. The purpose of this forum, and indeed the whole site, is not to judge the morality of posters; although MSE has its fair share of 'Holier than thou' members.
The O.P asked if Town and City parking could fine them for parking in a disabled bay in a supermarket.
The short answer is no, and the advice is to ignore them, although I would send a leter of complaint to Asda saying you will not shop there again. In spite of what they claim, the supermarket are responsible for the actions of those they employ, including the PPC.0
