Personally I think they should crush the cars of ALL those drivers who think its their god given right to park where they want.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Preferably with the inconsiderate drivers inside the vehicle at the time!
Maybe it'd be legal to do this as there wasn't a very large sign every 3 feet saying the vehicle was occupied.
A caution and no criminal record for the guy who did the crushing would be a fair result as he's rid society of a waste of space.
Somebody mentioned 'principle'. If you are truly a person of principle, what about the principle of not parking where you are not entitled to?0 -

You really do miss the point of this thread! While manners are hugely 'nay' fundamentality important the LAW is by far more important. Take a step back, look at the larger picture and think about it .. corporate entities abusing ALL OUR rights .. it's that simple!
I'd hazard some in this thread are conservative types that think National ID Cards will prevent Terrorism/Crime or Detention without Trial must be extended by N days as they are probably guilty anyway *shrugs*
It's not necessary for me to give up my seat on public transport to an elderly person in general [excluding disabled/elderly seats specifically designated by local authority bylaws] but I DO, however if some random private company decided that I was in breach of contract by not doing so and decided to fine me £30 ... you know what I'd do?
Anyway, I apologise for resurrecting this thread once again. It's become a tad political sorry it was Wolfie that made me do it. I paid Town & City Parking absolute ZERO .. did not even contact them & they did not contact me. .. shaky legal ground *hint hint* but I'm 100% sure their simple extortion tactics pay dividends hence they are happy to ignore those that prefer not to pay
Law of averages .. money for nothing.

While the person in question is clearly wrong to park in the disabled bay, and probably does deserve some kind of punishment, this does not mean that the potential 40 pound fine is right. A small fine, at most, would be far more appropriate. I-dont-do-debt is right to point out the argumentum ad hominem fallacy...

This has just happened to me, hower I was parked in a mother and child space at Tesco- £70 fine. Having read everything I can find, I'm really confused as to what to do. My view is that Mother & child spaces are courtesy spaces not enforcable by fine! Yes there are signs in the carpark but they're not that visible when you're dashing in on your lunch hour to do a weeks shopping. Do I pay it?On Friday my husband popped to Asda to get some cash out of the mini bank. As it was raining he parked nearest the machine in a disabled bay (I know he shouldn't have done this, but it was raining and car park was not mega busy). When he returned to his car it had a parking ticket on.
At first he thought it was a joke, so when he got back to work rang Asda who said it nothing to do with them, the car park is run by a private company and they have notices up with there terms on.
So they (Town and City Parking Ltd based in Scotland) issued a civil penalty notice demanding £20 payable within 10 days or becomes £40 after. It states - failure to respond will lead to civil action being taken for penalty and judicial expenses occurered. All verythreatening.
So is this legal or just a con to try to obtain money from us and other like us?
How will they find out who we are from the registration number would DVLA disclose this to a private company.
Any one come across this before?0 -
No, No, No. Don't reply to any post you get and never admit anywhere that you were driving at the time.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Here is a question. How did the person who charged you £70 for parking there know you were not a mother with child. Was he watching you and waited until you entered the store before pouncing.Surely it would be better all round if he had approached you while you were parking, and directed you to a more appropriate space. Of course he won't because PPC's are in business primarily to make money and not to help the motorist park.
Once you realise that, you will know that is totally immoral to fund this dubious type of business.
If Tesco and other supermarkets really wanted people to make sensible use of their car parks, they would employ parking attendants whose job would be to walk round and direct and advise the traffic, just like the old fashioned traffic wardens of yesteryear. Instead they and their appointed PPC see this as solely a means of increasing revenue.0 -
