So why are you making excuses for people who do???

Who's making excuses for them? I'm not.

Give it a rest.......it's just like until recently when you had to display a tax disc to show that you had paid the tax on your vehicle. If you display a blue badge it shows that you are entitled to park in disabled spaces.

Hardly a suitable analogy as one is a legal requirement the other isn't.

So what do you suggest - no badges but people carry around their health records to prove that they are entitled? You have just really negated your own post - Tim and I are trying to point out that some people need these spaces and don't require them to be taken by someone who thinks they know better:rolleyes:. If you have a disability that is considered 'worthy' enough for a badge, then you get one and display it. Carrying it around and displaying it is easy. Getting around isn't. And as consultant has explained and your little scene verifies, it isn't easy to spot the disability instantly, I'm sure the 'hags' (as you so charmingly put it) would not have challenged the chap if they had spotted his injury, or, indeed spotted his badge;);)

Not everyone with a disability wishes to register as disabled or even request a blue badge for that matter that doesn't mean their needs are any lesser, I've never heard of mothers being required to produce children for mother and baby spaces have you?

I always think the best example of abuse of the blue badge system is our local Ikea, it is the size of a small country, yet most days the blue badge parking area is full.

It takes an athlete to get round the place, but seems to attract the blue badges to park 50 metres closer than everyone else can park, ready for the marathon walk ?

Must be a bit like the Lazarus syndrome of pick up thy bed and walk......beds are £29.99p and on aisle 4562, three miles on your right.

Did you actually read any of my posts????

It was me who said that they should display their blue badges

Eh? do you mean have your baby with you? Because of course you should if you are using the space!

If you don't want to register disabled, then you are really at the mercy of whatever system you are parking under. I'm not sure what your argument is any longer - at first you were moaning about those who abuse the system and justifying the selfish people who use spaces they are not entitled to, now you seem to be suggesting that you shouldn't need a badge, just the disability?

You haven't answered my question - how can you prove that you need the space if you haven't a badge? It isn't always that evident;)

You said that because there are so many people who flout the system by using dodgy blue badges, that it is an excuse for people to park in disabled spaces.

It is a legal requirement on the public highway, and it is a requirement (if they so wish) by the land owner on private land. It also makes common sense to stop pointless arguments as you mentioned earlier.
