Getting Even More Desperate

  • Rylynn - the car is mine, its worth about £3,600 (according to Parkers a few weeks back) and I work full time. The bungalow won't have us because of my dogs. If the car goes, then it goes - but I just wondered what the score is because the CCCS lady said they "might" let me get a cheap runaround if i can demonstrate i need one - so does that mean I have to ask permission to get one?

Go another question - my son is trying to get a part time job in M&S and filling the form on line. As M&S is one of my creditors, d'you think that will that go against him?
Raq - I've revised my SoA considerably since that first post, there's no account for holidays now (CAB told me I could put a figure in) and the groceries/housekeeping is based on a figure from CAB which was initially £35 per person per week.

Not certain on this but i think if the OR takes your car away(because of its value) then they give you up to £2,000 to buy another one.

My sister is a bank manager,ok not in the same town but still the same bank that i had an overdraft and cc with. Although our surnames are now different through marriage i was worried it would affect her job but so far so good(9mths in!) so i would not worry too much about your son.Dx

On the rental front, I am sure someone will tell you here it will not take just weeks for you to lose your home. However would you be better to rent now before BR and not say anything, let them do the checks and then take a bungelow and pay for the fees and move in.

We rented at approximately the time we went BR. We told the letting agents that we would be going bankrupt, and they were fine about it. I'm glad we did - the OR took a copy of our tenancy agreement and got in touch with the LA to confirm the amount of rent we were paying. A lot of OR will do this - let your landlord know - but not all of them. In this time when you have so many concerns on your mind, it makes sense to be upfront and honest so you're not waiting for the hammer to fall.

Just my personal viewpoint, and what we decided to do.

  • Thanks Dalip. I don't know whether I'm overly bothered about that car in particular, but would hope to be allowed to get something to run mother around (hosp appointments mainly).

That's good. Although cos boy is at same address, same surname I just wondered - still, I suppose all they can say is 'NO'!! (its not like they'll hunt him down and question him as to his mother's whereabouts :) )

  • Thanks Merry. I think that you're right there. Have got some house association application forms to complete. Am I right in thinking that the longer I stay in the house until I'm evicted, the better - in other words, whilst I'm not paying towards mortgage and debts, then I'l be able to save money towards renting/moving/bond costs?
