Getting Even More Desperate

Hello
I've just done my soa as per one of the links provided - Im shaking, this is worse than I thought.
I went to CAB last Monday and wasn't sure that the advice I received was entirely accurate. Also my partner (who usually gives £700 - until november, then £500 (the extra is because he owes me some money)) was a tad overwhelmed by CAB and the implication that they want his whole income taken into account - well he's gone away to think for a while. Hoping to hear from him later as he will need some work clothes.
Can you tell me what you think of this? I have been trying to find the guts to ring CCCS and can't quite bring myself to do it but will try to do it tomorrow - can i ring them in the evening as I work in open plan office, don't what everyone to hear me, and def not see me distraught!!!
I got the figure for value of car off Parkers Guide - I take it this is fair enough to do?

The lady at cab said 455 for household was fair because there is (normally) 4 of us living here.
I haven't listed a GE Capital Loan (not secured) that is in my name but my mother pays - I take it this would have to be included, but it's not physically part of my expenditure - how do i work that out?
My mum pays for the Virgin package we've got by way of her household contribution - this tends to be around £100 a month. We get the tv licence free because of mum being blind.
Also I was reading one of the other posts where the sender had decided to leave his/her house and went and found rented accommodation before going BR. He was still able to visit the old house until it all went through - does house repossession get dealt with in BR? Im a bit confused about the order of how it will all happen, can anyone offer me a dummies guide please? Im just going to go and find the last traces of alcohol and see if I can calm my nerves!! (I know I've posted on here before but i can't find what i've sent or what your advice was to them.)

your OH only contributes 700 to that expenditure!!!! Its understandable why the CAB questioned there contribution, the OR would probably also question it too."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

Hi
The mortgage payment is huge - glad it's not mine - sorry that's not much help but it's a massive expense !
£450 for groceries - is there just the two of you? If so, this can be cut down considerably.
£60 for holiday fund - this isn't a necessity at the moment
£28 for haircuts - seems quite high
* apologies* just read the bottom of your post so some questions already answered x0 -

Hi,
I'm no expert but having had a quick look at your SOA the following things leapt off the page at me :
Groceries £455 ? - Astronomical, you can HALVE this
Clothing £ 52 - Is this absolute necessity spending every month ?
Mobile £ 60 - I'm sure you can at least halve this
Electricity £ 87 _ On top of £50 odd Gas ? Shop around or start switching things off
I'm sure with plenty of cutting back on non-necessity expenditure you could find another £ 300 to put towards debt repayment.
Try out the budget planner on the cccs website - It could prove enlightening. www.cccs.co.uk
Good luck0 -

Yes that is a typo - its 5834 - no wonder it all looked worse than i thought - sorry. I will amend on the site.
The payment on the £11k credit card is low - its MBNA and I don't know how they work it out. Normally it shoots up and I ring them and ask for another deal and they reduce it for 6 months or so.
There is normally 4 of us here. As I say, my OH has gone away to think - i thought his contribution was fair. He has 3 kids of his own that he pays maintenance for, plus some other school expenses as and when necessary. He was unaware of my situation until about 2 months ago, so it's all come as a bit of a shock to him really.0 -
Hi Lula
The figures that I've put down are based on the allowable expenses that CAB said were reasonable based on 4 living here. She said £35 per person per week was reasonable? £87 on electricity includes arrears - I nearly paid that on a credit card, but decided not to - I have previously paid for utilities on them. My mother is here all day, she is 84 and virtually housebound so stuff will be used during the day that wouldn't normally if everyone was out.0 -
What are your feelings on keeping the house?, i think you will already realise its looking like it may be difficult tooThats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all ………….

Can I just say that my own gas is 55 a month and my electricity is 67, and I pay monthly, have just had the bills in and this is the summer! OMG I am only just over £2 in credit on each. There are three of us in a three bedroomed semi, and we are careful. I know the prices given are slightly higher than mine but I can say that the fuel costs are sky rocketing, so it maybe that this persons are correct, and may even go up in the coming months.
On the food bill mine is around £400 per month, and yes maybe this can be cut down but surely you are allowed a certain amount on housekeeping?
I have also used the Parkers guide for my car and I am sure that is where someone here told me to go and look. I have just looked again and heck my car dropped from £1300 in June to £980 now! things are getting worse out there.
I hope you can get your situation sorted out and I am positive the people here will give you shed loads of help as they are all fantastic. Like others here though I can see why CAB questioned only £700 from your OH with the expenses you have each month that seems very low from him/her. Why have they gone off to think about things, are they earning a lot more and only giving you a small amount? and just read it is £500 that is a very low percentage of your outgoings? Some Days are Diamonds Some Days are Stones,Sometimes the hard times won't leave meBSC 162:beer:Banktupt 22 Oct 2008 at 10am!0
