  • I made a purchase from our friend through ebay on 11th Sept and after finding this thread (thank you all) filed a claim with paypal on 21st Oct.

Got the "found in your favour but no funds in the sellers account" email from paypal on 1st Nov.

I have spent the last couple of days trying to speak to someone in customer dis-service at paypal who could understand that the wrong policy had been applied.

Wth the first operative, I couldn't get beyond the "no funds in sellers account" line.

The second operative was insistent that the Buyer Protection Policy didn't apply to me as I had made the purchase before 30th Sept. Similar story with the third operative at which point I gave up being nice and demanded to speak to a supervisor who agreed that, because I purchased through ebay, I should get me money back regardless of the date of the purchase or claim. As yet no sign of the money in my paypal account.....

I have now resorted to email (another good suggestion earlier in the thread) and am awaiting a response. I will update in due course.

Apart from feelings of stupidity at being scammed in the first place I now find myself incensed at the response of Paypal. All in all pretty damning performance by them I feel.

Anyway, its good to find a place where so many who have gone through the same thing can come and offer each other support :A
  • I've just requested to join the Facebook group also.

To those of you whom Paypal have found in your favour but aren't paying out, keep nagging them until they cough up! After I got the standard "we found in your favour, but there's no funds in the seller's account" email, I called them up. Okay, so I got through to someone whom I could hardly understand, but three days after speaking to him, I got my money back (I was shocked it was THAT easy!).

I'd still like to see this dirtbag behind bars... or maybe the Police should just stick him in a room with all of us!

Anyway, good luck to those who have yet to get their money back and well done to those who've already succeeded!

I haven't. They say no funds available in his account, which is obvious!! We have now gone to bank but its a very long wait again!! We were supposed to know by Monday if we would get it back (we paid by Debit card not credit card which makes it even more complicated!)but now its the end of November!!
Maybe the bank route is the route you should go. You just need stamina! LOL

Thanks for your reply, not getting anywhere with paypal :(
Tryed my bank (Barclays) both at the branch and over the phone. The Branch advisor didn't have a clue about charge back and the call centre said because the payment was made via direct debit to paypal a claim was not possible. Starting to lose the will with this scam... Good luck with your Bankers !!
