Arghhh!!1 Oh but I have found a job after been made redundant!!! Whoop whoop. One of my ex employers competitors which is a good kick in the teeth to them as I am a sales exectutive for the new firm!!! ha!

Back to the point now anyway, I am going to be chasing them tomorrow as I was told 2 and half weeks ago, i should have received a letter from them 'within the week' asking me to assign the claim to them as so they can pay me and claim back from On The Beach

Oh no. I'm so sorry you're having a lot of trouble getting through. Have you tried all the numbers I gave you? I think the first one should go straight through unless it's engaged. Unless they've put a voice mail on them. Keep trying though, I'm sure you'll get there in the end but don't hold on unless your calls are part of a package.

Congratulations on getting another job so quickly.

Now you just have to get your refund.

    From the ATOL website:
The CAA is currently receiving a large number of claims from customers who had advanced bookings with XL Leisure Group tour operators. This high volume has caused some delay in the acknowledging and processing of all claims.
In addition, due to the trading arrangements of some of the XL Leisure Group’s operators and their agents, some claims are taking longer to process then initially envisaged.
If you have not yet received a decision on whether you have a valid claim, or you recently sent in a claim and have not yet had this acknowledged, please accept our apologies. We are processing claims as quickly as we can and we will be in touch with claimants as soon as possible.
If you have a claim number then you are in the system. Frustrating as it is, I think it's a case of sit tight. Unfortunately people ringing up will probably just delay the whole thing more as ATOL will be spending all day answering queries rather than processing claims!
  • Did anybody buy just the park tickets from TCD ?

I did £600 worth, just got a letter from ATOL stating that these are not covered.

Has anybody else had this problem ??

Has anybody else been refunded thier Holiday + park tickets ???

Just trying to find out if this is the case, the old TCD broucher stats that the tickets are ATOL protected, but they are not around to ask !!!!

Please let me know if you have had any dealings like this

Tickets shoudlnt be covered unless part of a package inclusive of flights that depart from the UK.

Misleading info in the brochure if that is what it tells you.

The operator may have protected the tickets price through a ABTA non licencable submission. May be worth talking to ABTA to see.

We booked last year through a travel agent to fly to Egypt. 1 week before travelling the airline went bankrupt and our travel agent found us a new flight which we had to pay for.

after this we found out that they priced the holiday seperately and it wasn't sold as a package holiday despite us thinking it was. We paid for the flights on Direct Debit (nationwide) and sent a claim off back in September. We have received a letter stating they wanted our original documents which we sent to them in december but have not heard anything since then.

Becomming very faustrating as they are holding 600 pounds of ours now for nearly half a year.
  • My son has received a letter from the CAA regarding his claim. They have stated that as there was a single cash transaction in excess of £50 he has to complete a Statutary Declaration form which has to be signed in front of a solicitor/commisioner of oaths, they may charge a swear fee for this but the CAA will not refund this.
Has anyone else received anything similar and does anyone know what a solicitor charge for this. I suspect this is an attempt to put him off bothering to continue with his claim.
Incidently his original response from the CAA stated he needed to fill a declaration form if the claim was for more than £500 cash, so they appear to be changing their boundaries.
Would appreciate any advice on this
    Thanks

    Hi everyone,

I just wanted to get a feel for the type of claims people are having success with. Are they all claims for holidays that had not yet been taken, ie XL went bust before you were due to travel?

Has anyone had success with an out of pocket claim for expenses occurred overseas due to the collapse?

I was abroad with 7 others, due to fly home the day of the collapse and we had to pay for extended hotel stays and replacement flights home (as our original XL flight was never schedulled a replacement by the CAA).

    Thanks
