  • Hi

I have been chasing ATOL for weeks now as the 12 weeks passed from the date of my 1st letter but I could never actually get through to anyone (constantly sat in a call waiting queue) BUT......a letter arrived in the post this morning from CAA saying the claim has been settled, I checked my bank & the money arrived yesterday!!!! At last, so the money is being refunded just very slowly indeed!!!!

Today I received a letter from the CAA authorising payment and stating it should be in the bank within the next 5 working days. I checked the account and found it had been paid yesterday.:j

Let's hope they are now speeding up the refunds for everyone.
  • Hi everyone,

we paid £800 deposit via credit card, the rest with cheques. now this appears to have caused a few issues.
my girlfriends mum called up the ATOL people yesterday, and was told that our claim has been rejected, and to claim with the CC company. she called them up and was told that as it was over 100days, she would be able to claim for all of it, APART from the £800 deposit....

Is this correct, if it makes any difference, the credit card company is M&S.

    Many thanks for any help.

We are in the same situation we are currently awaiting Eggs response,The Credit Card company are liabel for the total amount and there is no time limit.
When talking to the credit card company explain its a claim against section 75 of the 1974 credit consumer act, they will try and get out of it however they must pay.If they refuse complain to the financial ombudsman.

No, I paid by two credit cards, one for deposit and one for balance.

I submitted claim to ATOL via travel agent on 23rd October 2008 and got an acknowledgement with a claim number which was sent to my travel agent on 19th November 2008.

Before trying to claim through ATOL, I tried to claim through cc but they referred me back to ATOL.

I have some phone numbers for ATOL if you are having trouble getting hold of them.
