I am considering taking sky+ as a first time customer, perhaps with ability to watch in another room. Is there any way of beating the current sky offer?0

Hi,
About 4 months ago I persuaded my OH to phone up and threaten to cancel( cos its in his name) and they gave him 3 months full package at 1/2 price. He should have rung again the day before we went on holiday in July but HE FORGOT!! so he has just cost us almost a month at full price. Out of guilt he just rang again and got straight through on the freephone no 08005875707without using any tricks. He was transferred to cancellation dept, told them he was getting earache from me and could not justify the payment and straight away was offered 3 months at 1/2 price or 12 months at £31 per month. He didn't know which to go for so he was then told he could take the 3 months offer and ring back any time if he wanted to change to the 12 months one!! No mention of a free sky plus box tho...but I don't mind cos there is no such thing as free sky anything!
Pretty good result I think! :T0 -
I was after Sky+, but £159 is too high!, I tried a couple of times to get it reduced but with no success, tried again today (said my friend reccomended it) and got Free install, so a saving of £60 and still got the current offer.0

Hi
I have read about all these deals some people get, however every time I ring up I get offered nothing.I have the full package with sky+ and multiroom works out at £50 + monthly.
I rang today and said it was too dear for what was on Sky,asked me what I wanted to get rid off, said if I signed a new contract for a year would they give a discount,no was the reply.
I asked about these special deals and was told a marketing company picks customers at random and calls them with deals.
It looks as if I am destined to pay the full price0 -

You need to say you want to cancel. Only cancellations have these deals and they use them to try and stop you cancelling in the first place.Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere......0 -
Yes , cancellation dept is the only was to go .
I`ve just finished my 3 months at half price and tel`d to cancel as we do not watch enough TV to justify the cost . We were on £36 month previously (all sports but no movies) before going onto £20.25 for full package for 3 months .
Yesterday when I asked to cancel I was offered straight away a 5 months sports package at £18 per month . This is essentially the full package with all channels except movies . Seems a pretty good deal to me .I`m now officially too old to die young0 -
well i just really annoyed a man at cancelations! I moved house a month ago and 'recommended' my partner, thus saving over £200 compared to a move and upgrade to sky+.
well i rang up today to give my month's notice at the old address, the man asked why and i said i had moved, he asked if i wanted to trasnfer and i told him exactly what i had done and why. he was not amused and started muttering about equipment costs etc, he was actually quite rude!
anyway, several hundred quid up, i'm now going to increase my savings by putting the old sky box on ebay0 -
hi
i was currently on the £21 package. rang up cancellations and asked nicely if they could get me free sky+ equiptment.
got put on hold for couple of min - man came back and said yeah no probs - free installation to. had to go to the £31 package for movies but do you think i'll be able to ring up and cancel this and opt for the multi-room instead??
either way im happy just didnt want to pay for the box and instalation!!!
result:rolleyes:
keep your drink.....just give me the money0 -
It has amazed me how easy it was! I've done this before using the 0870.
This time I used the 0800 587 5707 number, got straight through and said I wanted to cancel. When asked why I said that the mortgage had gone up and I needed to save some money. Was put through to the cancellation department, repeated the reason and was offered the half price on base + sports at half price (£18) for 5 months - took it of course.
They then tried to get me on the 'free' broadband. It occured to me that if I was to take the BB, then after the 5 was up I would have no bargaining power because I would be tied for 12 months.0 -
All deals mentioned in post #842 (page 43) are still valid, as is the free Sky+ (grade A PVR1) while stocks last.
Sky have just added 3 "closer" offers for customers who refuse these deals (usually customers whose 66p Sky sports offer is coming to an end - well done if you were on that one!)
Offer 1 - any package you like at 1/2 price for the next 6 months.
Offer 2 - Sky sports (1,2 and 3 and Sky Sports Xtra) plus any 2 mixes for £5 per month for 4 months.
Offer 3 - Sky Movies plus any any 2 mixes for £5 per month for 4 months.0
