They won't offer you any deal unless you can cancel your contract. You can call to cancel if you've got 40 days or less left on the minimum term of your contract.0 -
Hello!
I've been lurking here for a while and this is my first post.
I've been a Sky customer for about 9 years and I've been waiting and waiting for Sky+ to come down in price for sods like me for years and then I came across this forum.
As I wasn't willing to pay the £259 to upgrade to Sky+ I used the tips posted here and I'm just off the phone...
After threatening to cancel (using the freephone number with the #key trick!) I'm getting Sky+ installed this Friday for £79 (no multiroom - I already subscribe to the movie channels) .
I know that in previous posts some people have got the same deal for £65 but the guy on the phone said that these are brand new boxes with 80 hours recording time instead of 40 hours.
I'll let you know if this is what comes on Friday...0 -

Nice one! I think all the Sky+ deals are for 80Gb PVR3 Sky+ boxes (approx 40 hours recording), except the free Grade A boxes, which are re-furbed PVR1s (40Gb, 20 hours approx.) CAncellations can't (or at least aren't supposed to!)offer customers the £65 deal unless your reason for cancelling is that your existing standard box is broken.0 -
Not much luck here with cancelling!
We have been with Sky for 5 years and are currently on £36 package, everything except sports. I said we wished to cancel due to cost. After first trying to get me to drop movies to reduce the cost they offered 2 Mix packages plus just Sky Movies 1 for £28 a month with the first 6 months half price i.e. £14pm.
Yes, I know it's a saving over what I'm paying but it's not exactly a great deal as basically all it is is Movies 1 for free for 6 months and a vastly reduced range of channels.
I said I needed to consult my OH but where do I go from here? I'm tempted to ring up again and still cancel or am I being unrealistic expecting a better discount?

Hi I've have had sky for 6 months so still within 12 month contract,
can i haggle for any deals, would like sky+... or im i stuck for 12 months
thanks0 -
Never signed up to Sky before.
Seems like the 6 months free Sky Sports, free broadband and a £50 bung from Quidco are compelling reasons to start now - at least for a year or so.
I was just wondering though. I saw one of those Sky concessions stands in my local shopping centre today. They were advertising the same 6 months free Sky Sports deal, but obviously no £50 bung. Has anyone ever tried doing deals at these concessions stands? If so, what did you get? Am I likely to get a better deal than the Quidco one, or is it not worth trying?
Cheers,
Rich.0 -

You can call cancellations directly (bypassing customer services) on 08708 502801, this number costs 8p per minute daytimes, but only 2p per minute after 7pm and all weekend. However, see previous posts re. the freephone number for customer services.
Evening calls on most landline networks start at 6pm ,and BT charge
3.75p a minute evenings to call this 08708 number and 1.50p at weekends .;)0 -

I haven't tried it and i doubt you'd get anywhere because that £50 quid is most likely their commission. You can also max out your sign up bonus by getting a friend who has sky to ring up and refer you. Sky will note your friends details against your account and then when you sign up via quidco get your friend to ring up again and tell them you have now subscribed and they should get £50 in vouchers which you could split.:money:Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere......0 -
I've just called Sky to see what they could do and the answer was nothing.
I have Sky+ with all the channels and x1 multiroom and when I said I wasn't happy with my monthly bill and was thinking of leaving they put me through to a programme advisor who didn't offer me anything apart from cutting my bill by taking off channels!!
Is there anything else I can try next or do Sky know that I'm unlikely to leave and get a better deal somewhere else?0 -

Cheers. Thought as much - £50 seems like a pretty hefty commission anyway.
Didin't know that I could get the refer-a-friend too. Thanks.
