I cancelled my account last month wanting to get Sky+ but didn't get any offers and my account expires on 8/8/06.
I have had no contact from Sky since I cancelled apart from the letter confirming. I just rang them using the 0800 number. I said I would be willing to reinstate my account for Sky+. I was quoted the £99 + £60 installation. I asked if there were any offers for me to come back and he said that not as far as he was aware.
Where do I go from here? I don't really want to quit Sky but I want Sky+ and am unwilling to pay the extortionate price, under principal, as I know so many people are paying far less.
I'm willing to go without Sky for maybe a month. I'd be grateful for advice as what to do next.0 -
I have been told to haggle around september time by an NTL rep as thats when they have offers on to entice students, something on the line of 'the students are getting it cheap, I want it at that price too!'
I would personally NEVER go back to paying for cable TV now I have afreeview box.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Try calling this no. for returning customers 08706 080 426 - don't know what the freephone equivalent is but at least you will speak to the right person.0 -

Do you have to pay installation on these two deals? My dp just phoned the normal customer services to enquire about getting sky+ and they just offered the £99, free installation deal, so he thought about trying cancellations direct?0 -

This is a winback number. Call after your account has closed down, AFAIK they won't be able to offer you a deal to come back until then. The "winback" (reinstate) deals usually differ from the current cancellation deals.0 -
:T quick update! he rang, blagged a bit, got passed around like a hot potato for 30 mins - then got the free reconditioned box (20 hours recording storage, which is all we need - we have a dvd recorder anyway, we wanted the sky plus for the kids playroom), free installation and only need to pay the £10 a month multiroom! Thanks to all the other posters for their tips and info :T0

yes, as I said the number is for returning customers.
shuker said the account will be closed down on 8 Aug, so probably worth calling this number to see what offers they have for returning customers on or after the 8th.
When I called, I was offered a free refurb Sky+, free installation, £10 pm for first 3 months.0 -
Can I get a deal even tho' I haven't completed my first 12 months contract with Sky??0

The old saying "Don't ask, Don't get" springs to mind
I feel that you may not get the full discounts as long term subscribers have but there may be something in the pot! Lawe :wave:0
