Since I have already left sky after the footy season had finished in May, I phoned 0870 6080426 for returning customers. (tried the freephone no. first but was told to ring this - never mind, I used my O2 allowance so it's still free).
Said I want to rejoin and what he can offer. Gave me the following 2 offers:
    1. choose any package and get 6 months at 1/2 price
    2. get the full package for £10 per month for 3 months
    3. sky+ box supplied + installed for free but need to sign up for 12 months (1st 3 months at £10)

didn't want to commit to 12 months, I mentioned the 66p offer, and he said he can offer that to me for 2 months. Took this option in the end.

Are you sure the 12 month contract is not just for the Sky+ box and service i.e. if you can cancel movies etc but keep the box and pay £10 month Sky+ fee

I might be wrong but my understanding is, after the initial 3 months (full package at £10/month), the cheapest option is to downgrade to the lowest package of £15 plus additional £10 for Sky+ subscription (i.e. total £25/month). Or take out a package with minimum 2 premium channels with sky+ subscription thrown in for free (approx £32/month) for the remaining 9 months.

I phoned up last week and said I needed to cancel for a few months as I needed to buy a school uniform for my dd and needed to cut costs where ever possible. They did the whole thing about reducing my package (cost me £18 a month now as got rid of all the channels I never watched) and told them that both my kids liked different things so it wouldn't be fair to turn one lot of programs off and not the other so it was an all or nothing thing.

They offered me half price for 3 months, or 25% off for a year. I took the 25% off, using the reasoning that I was planning on turning it back on in September anyway and I would be cutting my nose off to spite my face if I didn't take the larger discount. I will save about £60 in a year....not bad for the price of a phone call ;)

Unfortunately it looks like sky are at it again.
Price rises are included with the letter that no-one reads in the Sky Magazine for July.
I cannot find the full price rises for all packs but it looks like about £1.50 on each pack.
The cancellations department will be inundated with calls, so be prepared for long waits !!!!!

I have been a customer of Sky for years and have had Sky+ for three. Recentley the Sky+ has been playing up, the record/pause wouldn't work and the planner was wiped clean. This happened twice in about three days so I contacted Sky and we went through the "house keeping" disc cleaning routine but told them I wasn't happy about a three year old box going on the blink and was told it would cost £65 for an engineer to turn out. I told them that I would rather cancel and dump the box altogether. I then got a card from them apologising for the problem and taking £5.00 off my bill!! (bless 'em) The box has gone belly up again so what do I do now? I'm not paying £65.00 for a call out and am thinking of telling them to place the box somewhere intimate where it won't see the light of day. Anyone out there got any advice as to what to do next?

tell them after being a loyal customer you are unhappy with what they are offering so unless they can give you a box that works you might as well cancel so please can they put you thro to cancellations

tell them that as a box that isnt working is neither use nor ornament then you want to cancel unless they can make it worth your while all you seem to see is offers for new customers etc and if they want to keep your custom they need to fix/replace the box and give you an offer on your subscription

failing that cancel and reorder as a new subscriber in another name...you could even refer yourself and take advantage of whatever refer a friend offer is on at the moment
