I gave my notice to cancel Sky at end-April, terminated at end-May (after 3 months half price
). Received a post card yesterday from SKY - asking me to consider rejoining, and I'll get a refurbished SKY+ and free installation and £10 per month full package for next 3 months. But need to start another 12 months contract.
Really tempted since I will rejoin anyway when football season starts, but a new 12 months contract means I can no longer threaten to cancel!
Still not decided - anyone got this offer? Can you haggle for more?0 -
My 3 months @50% expired so I thought I'd give them a ring to see what was on offer. I was told right from the outset that another 50% deal was not an option as I could only have one every 12 months (I decided not to argue). I was immediately offered the 25% off deal, but still said it was too expensive. After a series of questions as to what I would like - basically I told them the main reason for keeping Sky is the Sky+ facility which is true - movies were a nice to have as was the Sports, but not essential. He then came back with £27 for Sky Movies 1,3,5,7,9 and Sports 1 & 3 (plus all the other bits) and retaining the Sky+ facility, which is still basically the 25% off deal and requires a new 12 month commitment.
I decided that this was a fair price for what was offered, saves me £186 over the next year and means I don't have to go through the hassle of phoning them up every two or three months.
Thanks to all you MSEers for sharing your valuable info.
AndyIf you're happy to sell it to me at a price I am happy to pay - then I want it cheaper.0 -
Im on that package above but have Movies 2,4,6,8,10 + Sports 1+3 , but im only paying £24 a month with the 25% off (should be £32) sounds like they have made a mistake if you are paying £270

My box is (genuinely) broken, yet the best they would offer me is a free repair.
I rang (freefone for 34 mins on hold) saying that a) the box was broken and b) there was nothing on to watch and could I cancel. After offering repair, that was it!
When I suggested Sky+ cheap, they tried to upsell me!!!
What have I done wrong not to get a deal??!:j No longer lurking :j0 -
its worth a go or ask to be put directly through to sky customer care and explain that your box is not working and that you are sick of repeats and everyone else esp new customers being offered great deals tell them you are paying for nothing at the moment and say that you want more than a free repair to stay with sky

Thanks for all the advice on here....
This morning I plucked up the courage to call them and after ages on the phone to a lady in India (who told me I did not exist on their system.....) I got through to a very helpful lady who gave me the 50% off for 3 month deal and said I could ring back at the end of that period and see if they could do something else then.
SO thats an extra £21.50 a month I have saved - my husband will be pleased!0 -
I've had a fair few 3 month 1/2 price offers in the last couple of years. I wasn't offered one last time though. They offered 12 months 25% discount or 2 months 50% discount. I decided that I'd think about it, so I cancelled and let the month's notice run out.
I have bitten the bullet and rejoined on the 2 month 1/2 price offer. Maria, a Scottish lady, told me that there was something afoot in the next month or two so to ring back then. She hinted at the fact that people are fed up with newbies getting all the best deals so there are some new deals in the offing. She said that she'd been on a trianing course but couldn't divulge details. It could all be bluff of course, but she said that there'd be a mailshot to all subscribers "soon".
It could all be a ruse and just a well packaged ploy of actually costing us more, Sky are good at that, but you never know!
IMHO the full package is worth £20 ish a month, but not £40+. For me, without the sports and films it's just as well to use the Sky box as a Freeview box i.e. no monthly outlay. It's just a shame that doesn't allow Sky Sports News to be seen as is the case with Freeview as I may just be able to survive with only that. It'd cost me £150 for a freeview compatible aerial so I'm between a rock and a hard place on that one.
It's interesting to read everyone's experiences and opinions on here.
Cheers for now,

Thanks for all your advice. Finally called after reading your posts for months. Got the Sky+ box I wanted for £65 with free installation rather than £199 plus £60 for installation. Will try again for a package discount. in a few months. Thanks again.0

Cancelled my sky package a couple of weeks back with cut off date 29th of this month. Offered 25% discount at the time, but declined this, hence cut off date. Today received 2 calls with the following offers, (to the relief of my wife, as she thought we may miss the last episode or two of 24). First call. Six months half price any package with no tie-ins, plus Free Sky+ box if I want it. Second call as first call, or we could have sky sports for 2 months at 66p/month. Thought I would wait until last minute to make a decision. Who knows what they will offer.0

Wow! The first option sounds really attractive. After 6 months you can threaten to cancel again. Wish I was offered that when I cancelled.0
