Hi there can anyone tell me if telewest do any deals,I would be very interested to know. thanks0
-
I am about to ring up telewest as well. Don't feel we get value for money anymore. Going to try for a deal plus a TVdrive. Have seen some earlier in the thread getting it down to £45 ish for BB, TV supreme package, Phone and tv drive.
Any advice from someone how has done it would be appreciated.0 -
I called about a fortnight ago I think.
Got BB reduced by £6 for 12 months and also Talk Mobile free for 3 months.
Also getting TV Drive installed with no install fee as refused to pay £50 but this was my only way of staying with them for all 3!
It is worth giving them a call.0 -

Yay! :j just got Sky+ for £65 with free Instalation :j
I asked to be put through to Cancellations and told them I wasn't happy with new Customers paying only £89 for Sky+, whereas it would cost me £199 with £60 Instalation and was thinking about using Freeview instead
Mr Zippybungle is very happy :rolleyes:Busy working Mum of 3

Finally took the bull by the horns and contacted SKY to cancel our package. Was offered half price for 3 months or 25% discount on a new yearly contract. Took the half price option as didn't want to get tied in again. Lets see what happens in 3 months time!
Means a saving of 31.50 over the 3 months :j Couldn't believe how easy it was.0 -
I called NTL to cancel my Prem Plus Season Ticket for next year and whilst talking to them explained I'd been pricing up SKY Plus & Carphonewarehouse Broadband compared to the NTL deal I'm on now.
The guy on the phone gave me the 5 minute spiel about how NTL was better and more reliable etc. and that I already had the "Family Pack" for the price of the "Base Pack" etc. but quite happily said he'd knock off £9.75 pm. (don't know where that figure came from) for the next 6 months. Apparently they have their own version of Sky plus (Pers. Video Recorder) coming out then and I can call them again a negotiate an upgrade!
Anyway, when I pushed my luck and said " ... thanks, but your broadband is still expensive compared to others ..." he knocked another £9.00 off that for 3 month (half price)...
Well chuffed:j . I'll probably go for their PVR version in time if I can get a deal like that out of them!
Oh, and as a bonus, the number I called (which they gave me on a flyer to cancel my prem plus if I wanted to) was a free phone number and was answered in about 30 seconds - a massive imporvement on NTL's usual call answering times!!!!!
The free phone number is 0800 183 00010 -
Have been a Sky customer for a very long time and would like Sky+ but resent having to pay over the odds (and I don't want multiroom), while new customers get it cheap! Any suggestions as to how I can get it at a reasonable price? thanks0

DDB1,
As has been posted previously, I would recommend the "I want to cancel" route (assuming you are over the 12 month contract period). The only thing is that you have to be prepared to bluff until the very end, or indeed cancel at that point (you can always phone them back before the cut-off date and tell them you have changed your mind!).
Phone up Customer Services, ask to be put through to the Cancellations Department, then when this department asks why you want to leave, be very polite but firm and tell them that
1) The existing Sky box has been intermittently faulty (unless you have the extended warranty!!! That would look a bit silly)
2) You have been looking around at other deals as you were fed up with the "brand new customers only" approach to Sky+, and you have noticed that their cable competitor (Telewest) has TV-Drive (which is a form of Sky+), so you are going to them instead as they don't charge £260 for it !!
I would also recommend 5 minutes of research on the Telewest website, just to familiarise yourself with prices/features etc, so that the sky rep gets the impression you really have been investigating.
This is exactly the route that I used, and they offered me either a free engineer callout and a guaranteed fix to my box (worth £60), or an upgrade to Sky+ for £49 with no multiroom and free installation, on a new 12 month contract ! :T
Worked a treat for me. Give it a go ! Just remember to be polite and friendly!0
