Anyone have any thoughts on the SKY repair plan, i pay £7.50 a month for this and have never used it in about 3 yrs, this is obviously setting me back about £90 a year. Is it actually worth having or am i answering my own question as will it cost a fortune if anything goes wrong.
Also there's a new 0800 number posted on another thread for SKY don't line there coffers with 0870, RING FREE on 08005875707.

My parents just got Sky+ installed today - slightly worried to post until now, but I can tell you what I managed!

Mum phoned Sky (India) - £89 deal to upgrade with multiroom at £10 month
Mum phoned Sky Sales (UK) - £199 plus £60 installation, or £89 plus 12 months multiroom at £10 month

I had told my mum to phone saying that she didn't need multi-room. India told my Mum that it was required. UK told my Mum that she needed to take it.

    I called India - £89 deal.
    I called UK - £199 + £60 or £89 + £120 multiroom.

    India - as before
UK - I told them my M&D only had one TV. The girl told me that they would only need the TV for installation of the multi-room and could they borrow one from their neighbours?!

I called to cancel, said that they wanted to upgrade to Sky+, but only had one TV and so multi-room was completely useless for them. I also said that they felt undervalued as new customers were getting a great deal, but existing customers were being penalised for their loyalty.

Customer retentions lady went off to speak to her manager, and came back with Sky+ fully installed, no multi-room all for £65! Guy arrived today and fitted Sky+ - he really wouldn't have cared if they had had one tv or 10 (hint hint ;))

Took a bit of perseverence and calling in the knowledge that you may actually have to cancel. If that's the case, you could always ask for the cancellation to happen after a certain date - excuse of a film or football match etc...
    Waddle you do eh?

could try getting your wife to subscribe using the comeback code for 6 months half price (code = easter ). You are !!!!!!ed if they ask for the original name on the account though she can claim she has got married and that was her maiden name.

Otherwise come clean you have all the equipment and push them hard to see what discount you can get. Remind them if you were the orginal account holder you could get 6 month half price to comeback. try it.

Thanks for the advice Zorber but I've never been a SKY customer, the equipment in the house i.e. Satellite dish and cables were there when I bought it and the receiver belonged to a relative who no longer needs it.
I know where you are going with the advice but my household has never benefited from any SKY deal although I suppose it is possible that the previous owners of the house did.

    Hi
I am trying to cut the cost of my satellite tv. I have bought my own dish, receiver, cable monoblock LNB so I can receive the satellites HOTBIRD and astra 1. I have installed the dish and I am now able to get the HOTBIRD sat but I cant tune in ASTRA 1. Can any of you help me, or direct me to a forum on this subject. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. Complete waste of money. I've had sky around 4 years and have never taken out extra insurance.

Got offered 6 months half price basic package (£7.50) when I phoned to quit, picture started breaking up 2 days later so I phoned them up to get tech support, was told £60 for a callout so I told them I wanted to leave. They put me through to disconnections who got the engineer for free and (in the end) a free new box.

Will still probably leave in 6 months :)

    Cheers

I rang sky last thursday to ask about moving sky to my new house and was told it was £60 to move it. Told them couldn't afford it due to house move and i would just cancel it. I was hoping they would make an offer of a cheaper or free move but they said they would cancel my sky after 1 months notice (7th May). Any suggestions on how to get either existing sky+ box reconnected or a new package (in wife's name and new address) ? Seems some people are lucky with freebies and others not so lucky !
