The £60 charge is for an engineer to come out and reinstall the dish etc.
if you can do this yourself all the better

I posted this on a little used thread, but may be of more use here.
I have been with sky for 18 months or so, mostly paying the top package, but on advice from this site gave haggling a go.
I called them on 0800 5875707 When asked to press the * (star) key twice don't and just wait you be put through to Customer services

I said to them I simply couldnt afford Sky anymore for the time being, and would have to leave, and was immediately offered my package at half price for 3 months. I replied it was still too much, so we talked about downgrading, and when they offered me the 2 mix package at £7 per month for 6 months I gave in. For me I only owe them £14 up until mid Oct now, and thats just fine
I know I have an inferior service, but hey the footie's nearly finished and Ive saved £238.
Great !! :j0 -
I just tried the haggle method with SKY Digital and I asked to be put through to the disconnections dept. They were very friendly and I kept your advised 'smile' in my voice and hey presto! 3 months half price! That is so cool! I am so happy! I did say that I needed to go to Freeview and that was when they offered me the half price deal. WOW! I know it is only a small amount of money, but why shouldn't we keep some for ourselves! This is so worth a try and if you haven't done it: DO IT TODAY! The smile in the voice and the mere mention of Freeview does the trick.
Thanks every1

totalguitar wrote:I rang sky last thursday to ask about moving sky to my new house and was told it was £60 to move it. Told them couldn't afford it due to house move and i would just cancel it. I was hoping they would make an offer of a cheaper or free move but they said they would cancel my sky after 1 months notice (7th May). Any suggestions on how to get either existing sky+ box reconnected or a new package (in wife's name and new address) ? Seems some people are lucky with freebies and others not so lucky !
Once they have installed standard box and every thing is running ok. Connect your sky + box (you will need to bring your old LMB from your old dish) drill and connect the extra feed to the sky dish again very easy to do. When all that is set up phone up sky tell them you have a sky plus box and wish toa ctivate it on your account and get sky plus (this is all free if you are on one of the top packages).
Then sell you other standard box on ebay."Save the cheerleader - Save the world"0 -

Also there's a new 0800 number posted on another thread for SKY don't line there coffers with 0870, RING FREE on 08005875707.

I got two sky + boxes fitted in December (£98 for the pair) but it took them 6 visits to get them sorted. This being the case I complained and they gave me my first three months free, which I thought was reasonable. Anyway they now want me to start paying the £52 a month I agreed from the outset. So I rang customer services and told the nice asian lady that I was offered 3 months half price when I signed up and that the initial three free months they gave me had nothing to do with this. She said she couldn't do anything about it so I got her to talk to her supervisor. Result is another three months at half price. I can't wait for July to ring em again.0
