Also, I would like to add that the Scottish lady I spoke to told me that all Premiership Football was in Sky Sports 1-4 and not ESPN!! Sky Sports 3 and 4 picked up all ESPN's games from last year!! Which is just a blatant lie. Very annoyed about that! But can't remember her name. Although she did make notes on my account, so I will complain about her.

Told Virgin i would be leaving them due to poor services in the area and not being very happy with the service received was only offered the VIP 50 deal with no discounts.

After thinking over that offer i remembered about the cashback for joining SKY plus discount over the next 3 months from sky of £20 a month meaning we'd get a total of £240 in discount from sky over the next 12 months. I was then offered the VIP 50 deal with £10 a month discount for a year which i have took means i'm paying £87.50 a month for

    Sky Sports + Movies
Sky sports + movie HD pack
    Virgin V+ box
    Virgin HD box
    Talk Unlimited
    50mb Internet.,

An engineer will come out and install this and make sure my connection is working perfect again.

still better off with the Sky deal though sky we'd be paying £90 a month too after 3 months and would get a greater Range of HD channels the last time i was with sky i had a terrible service plus means giving up a great internet connection so stuck with Virgin.
  • I phone sky today (weds) and told them I had received a letter from virgin offering their xl tv package with free hd for a one off cost of £49 and monthly cost of 29.00 and asked if they had any offers. I was paying 48.50 for the full package ( movies + sports plus all mixes)and had a sky+ box. they immediately offered me 6 months half price on my package they then offered me a free HD box with free installation but said I would have to pay the £10 HD monthly fee but that still gives me the full package and HD for 35.00 for 6 months.

I have phoned sky today to try and reduce out goings.I explained to the operator that I had finished work due to ill health she went through a list of what I may or may not watch and she then offered me 6month at 50 % off so instead of £41 will pay £20.50.I have been with them for 7 years so didnt really want to give them up.RESULT
  • My Sky never really worked from day 1, too many trees in my garden but they never tell you that until its the third engineer visi. i quit sky on 11 months and 1 day so no penalties. moved to Virgin and was installed in 4 days. like for like package of TV, 'tnterweb and phone, but first two months free, net saving over 12 months £120 woo hoo for me, gave them one of my staffs email ( a vigin customer already) and £30 kicker each for that too.
i think i might try sky in 11 Months, see what they have again. i could always chop a couple of trees down!
Marry a Foreigner, its so much cheaper!
  • Just phoned up the cancellations line, said I wanted to move as BT Vision where offering Sky 1 & 2 with ESPN far cheaper than Sky. A few comments saying they dont have Lost or 24 any more on sky One and they offerered half price on existing package. They also very openly said let me know if you want any more now and we will add it before putting discount on. Was paying £22 for the four sky packs now paying £21 for four sky packs + sky sports 1 to 4, for six months

Anyone know what I need to do in six months time to stay on this deal?

I have just threatened to quit Virgin and have got all channels, all sports, all movies, Virgin plus (or whatever it is called), HD sport and movies upgrade, a normal box in another room, phone and 20mb internet. £68 pm.

Edit. After reading jonmc's post, below this one, I was reminded that I also got the latest wireless router thrown in

I just managed to negotiate a new package with Virgin after a few weeks trying without luck.

    I now recieve:

    XL TV package inc. ESPN
    Sky Sports Pack
    M Phone
    L BB

    For
£53 a month for 6 months then £60.74 for the remaining 6. Averages at £56.87 over the year so pretty happy. Really couldn't be bothered moving to Sky. Also got them to throw in the latest router / modem for free

Called up Sky this morning to say I wanted to cancel, and get TV with BT Vision.

Guy immediately said 'Would you change your mind if you got half price SKY for 6 months?'

I said yes. So now going to be baying £44 per month instead of £70. (Would have been £34 a month if I got rid of HD)

    Quite happy with that.

    Two questions

I am not sure whether, after over a year, with a Sky HD+ box is it mine now? Or if I cancel from Sky will they come and take the box back (and probably charge me for that 'service')?!

Can I uise the Sky HD+ box to receive Freesat?

I would appreciate any help, tho' I have been interested to see how many have got subscription reductions just from threatening to cancel! But since Sky seem intent to pull the HD channels from me, which were the basis of the orginal offer that I took up, I am not great friends with them!

    Thanks
    Nigel
P.S. Sky used to offer a limited 'subscription free' service - is that still around?
