i have just cancelled sky was paying £57.00 per month for full package and multi room, could not get a better package what so ever, so got shot of it, 1 day after my sky plus box broke, so have invested in a freesat box, not cheap, but now will be saving roughly £700 plus every year, i can live without movies or sport, have been with sky for about 15 years, and they couldnt even offer me any deals , so ta ta sky R.I.P :j0

"This service is no longer available" is what I get with that number and other numbers that I have got through on before. It seems as though SKY have stopped ALL of the numbers except for the 044 ones. I have checked it out and these cost 4.9p per minute at all times with BT (the cheapest for 0844).
As one is often on for half an hour, that will cost in the region of £1.50 per call. Very annoying, when I can call the USA for .5p per minute plus 5 p. connection charge. UK inland calls to companies are ridiculous, especially as we are the customers. Especially now twhen I need to call them as they now charge 50p if you pay by direct debit on your credit card! Sky are using every method they can to exort money from us.

Good on Ya CL, Did the same myself in January, told Sky to poke it were the sun don't shine, again big saving for me and naf all for the Sky Bandits0 -
I got rid of Sky Digital over 6 months ago, I had a Sky+ box, and rang up to see what HD option they would give me, as they wanted £299 plus intallation I told them to stuff it.
Got a Humax PVR instead, now record stuff from Freeview just like a sky+box did, but for free. I have never looked back! Every month or so Sky call me begging to sell there services again, I just say if you can do it for a whole year free I will take it! Needless to say they never do!These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!
I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!0 -
This number is working.

Here’s the scene. I’m far from being a TV addict, but nevertheless I decided to go satellite in order to increase my choice. Never had satellite before so I needed everything, Dish, installation, box – the lot (Freeview is not great in my area so that wasn’t an option). It was a toss up between Sky and FreeSat.
Having done my sums Sky seemed to be offering the best deal. I’m getting the installation and a Sky+ Box and a basic £16.50 package, Sky are installing Thursday coming.
I’m now looking down the road to when my contract ends with Sky and I will go FreeSat (they have more than enough to keep me going) so the question is will I be able to use my Sky+ box to tune into FreeSat or will I have to buy a separate box? You might wonder why I’m asking now: well if I do need a new box it will give me time to watch ebay or my local tv shops to see if I can pick up a good bargain basement price.
Apologies if my terminologies are wrong but I’m still a satellite virgin!

I've been doing some research.
From what I'm reading I will still be able to receive FTA channels via my Sky+ box but I won't be able to record to it and I'll loose some of the recordings I have on the Hard Drive. Seems like it will act as a basic FreeSat box.
In the not to distant future I hope to change my old television for a HD ready one. I've my eye on a Pansonic Viera TX 32LZD80, our good friends over at Which? give it a big thumbs up - came top in their tests.
If it is the case that I can't record to the Sky+ Box after I jump ship and go to FreeSat and that I'll loose some of my recordings (can anyone confirm this and offer advice?) then I've plenty of time to watch out for a dedicated FreeSat HD type box:. Again falling back on Which? the top runners all seem to Humax with the top slot going to The Humax Foxsat-HDR so if I cant record to my Sky+ box this time next year at least I'll have had plenty of time to find that bargin:)
As I said in the post above I'm a satellite virgin but I have a feeling I'll loose my virginity pretty quickly with Sky!!

Wonder if anyone can help?
I have sky+ box downstairs, when I bought it last year (£49 lus free installation) they gave me multi room free for a year. Got this in DS' bedroom to save me always having to watch cartoons
He's so used to it now he wants to kee it, and with his birthday money decided he wants a Sky+box up there too. I called today and they said £99 plus £60 installation  . I jokingly said, 'how much?!' and explained I'd only paid half that with free installation a year ago, and he said well that offer no longer exists.
Any way of getting this cheaper for my DS?GOD BLESS DURAN DURAN

you could order the hd box for less than that and swap the boxes, you can cancel the hd subscription as well or so I think. dont forget to try for the multi room lite as well thats been mentioned0 -
you have to subscribe to hd for a year so that would work out more expensive though.
What's multi room lite?GOD BLESS DURAN DURAN
