Had a bit of joy with the moving fee (£60 for a reinstallation for a current customer?!) - rang to cancel Sky (not a bluff - wouldn't have bothered us going to freeview, although the reception can be sketchy in the area), and mentioned the fee as a factor, and straightaway they offered free installation.

Took them up on it, as it means that in a month or so when we cancel the paid-for Sky packs, we can get freesat for nothing, with far better reception.

    :D

I think you'll find you'll be on new 12 month contract. Best check this out!

Why not get a SkyHD box for £49 + £0 install?

It's still £49 + £30 install, as they are an existing customer.

They didn't mention it, but I'll check with them before we get to the installation date - thanks

  • I dont know how you guys get all this stuff for free or reduced - maybe someone could offer me some tips? After reading what sort of offers other people were getting i thought i would try my luck with the code for the free sky+ with installation and this is what happened.

I phoned sky and said i had a code for a free sky+ with installation and the man said he had never heard of it and it must be an old code (yeah right) and refused me so i said i would like to cancel my subscription so he offered me some half hearted offers which weren't worth the hassel and when i said is that the best offer you can give me as i have been a good customer for 15 years and new customers seem to be getting everthing for free he said yes so again i said i will cancel ( as advised to do by others on this site and also a recent ex employee of sky ) he said ok and promptly cancelled everything so i am now skyless so i dont know how people on this site get all the offers they do as i just got jack. Any tips?

strangely my broadband is still working but expect that wont be for long!!

don't know whether to phone up to see if they want me back......

I did the same thing yesterday, wanted sky+ with installation for free just like new customers are getting, they dont seem to care about exsiting customers, got refused so i said i would cancel and they said ok!! so i am going to join again under a different name - dont know if that will work or not.

"This service is no longer available" is what I get with that number and other numbers that I have got through on before. It seems as though SKY have stopped ALL of the numbers except for the 044 ones. I have checked it out and these cost 4.9p per minute at all times with BT (the cheapest for 0844).
As one is often on for half an hour, that will cost in the region of £1.50 per call. Very annoying, when I can call the USA for .5p per minute plus 5 p. connection charge. UK inland calls to companies are ridiculous, especially as we are the customers. Especially now twhen I need to call them as they now charge 50p if you pay by direct debit on your credit card! Sky are using every method they can to exort money from us.

  • Just came off a deal where you get Movies and Sports for £34 - asked for any other deals - NONE AVAILABLE even after mentioning my OH was on maternity leave (which she is) :(
