    Hi all.

Im looking to get multiroom and wondering what the most cost effective way of doing it will be?

We moved a few months back but didnt inform Sky as the new property was already wired for Sky+. My idea was to cancel the subscription and order a new one for our new home. The thinking behind this was that the new installation would be for the conservatory, which is where we want the extra box. In doing this we would then be wired for mutiroom and could then ask to alter our subscription to match this.

Would this be cost effective as I believe I would be classed as a new customer as we have moved or would I get a decent enough deal as a current subscriber ?

You wont be counted as a new customer. A mate a work had sky about 10years ago and moved about 3 times but when they tryed to get sky again was told could not get sky as a new customer so unless you can put it under a new name.

Had a bit of joy with the moving fee (£60 for a reinstallation for a current customer?!) - rang to cancel Sky (not a bluff - wouldn't have bothered us going to freeview, although the reception can be sketchy in the area), and mentioned the fee as a factor, and straightaway they offered free installation.

Took them up on it, as it means that in a month or so when we cancel the paid-for Sky packs, we can get freesat for nothing, with far better reception.

  • I have been with Sky for a couple of years and wanting Sky + for ages but it seems very expensive. Today I rang them and they told me Sky+ would cost £99 + £60 installation. I then asked to be passed to Cancellations department. There I said I was thinking of cancelling. I said I wanted Sky + but it's too expensive so I thought I'd cancel Sky for now, and save up for Sky + and use the money I'd saved to get Sky + and then re-subscribe to Sky in a few months (hope this makes sense) when I could afford it again. So they offered me Sky+ = for £49 and £30 installation ie half the price they originally told me. Result!

Why not get a SkyHD box for £49 + £0 install?

They might not want the extra £10 per month Sky HD subscription. Which you need to take up with this offer, you can't just say you'll have the box at that price, and just have the FTA / FTV HD channels along with your usual subscription for the SD channels.

Some people also wrongly think you must have a HD TV too.
