    Hi itsgototstop,

As you already have Sky (which will already have a sky card in your sky+ box) 1 month after you cancel you will stop receiving the pay channels but will still receive all the free stuff (freesatfronsky) such as BBC, ITV etc.

However just so you know, the Sky+ features will also stop after 1 month.

    Hope this helps.

Thats very good news, thank you very much, out of interest when you are on freesat do you still have the online tv guide with whats on etc that blue screen?.

    Hi,

From reading some of this thread it appears that if I cancel my sky contract ( I am long out of contract and have a sky plus box and dish) then I would
get freesatfromsky which would suit me fine.

I'm just slightly confused as to if I need a new viewing card or not, from several posts here it appears not but Sky say you do?.

    Any help appreciateed!

    Thanks

No, you don't need a new viewing card, your subscription viewing card reverts to a FreesatFromSky card. Though the card is only needed for a handful of channels, virtually all the free channels are Free To Air, so require no card. The card also puts the local ITV and BBC on 103 and 101.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Hopefully an easy one - the Sky+ has always been in DHs name, and we're due to move house in a few weeks time.

Sky want to charge him £60 to move the service, but if I go to them as a new customer, they'll only charge £30 and throw in a new basic box, plus if I sign up online I'll get a £15 credit from them, and a potential £10 from Quidco.

    So, my questions -

    1) Do they credit check? (I'm in the early stages of a DMP so wouldn't pass any searches right now)

    2) If we wanted to get our existing Sky+ box reactivated after a suitable period at the new house (would tell them we'd been given one), would Sky charge setup for that (we'd be on the level of package where there is no monthly sky+ subscription fee).

If the answer is no to both of these, it seems to be a 'no-brainer' situation, unless anyone can think of any other issues that might crop up.

    Hi there

I was going to leave virgin for sky as bt were doing that promo for free land line installation.

I told virgin I was gonna leave them, and they offered me xl tv with movies and sports, l bb, and l phone for £58.95 a month!

Obviously I said yes please, and it was all fine, until I got my letter detailing my new contract (2 weeks late in the xmas post), and they are charging me 68.95! I rang to complain, and they said because the advisor i spoke to did not put the price he had quoted me on the system, there was nothing they could do, and if I cancel my contract I will get a £120 charge slapped on my account for early cancellation of services!

    :-(

  • Hi,

I followed the procedure outlined by jh12345 here

At the beginning of December I phoned up asking for sky plus and was offered it for 49.99 installation which I was too tight to pay out, so I cancelled. My account was duly shut off on the 2nd of Jan. I called the returning customers phone number and told them I would like to rejoin sky depending on the deal I was offered

Got sky plus with free installation and the same packages I'd had previously (£44) for £39 a month. I tried to get multi-room at a discount but they wouldn't budge, although I didn't try very hard, didn't ask for vouchers either. The only downside is that I'm now contracted in for the next 12 months, but that's not the end of the world since I'm unlikely to cancel

    Hi

Just coming here for a little rant, just phoned up sky as we are moving house, the new house already has a dish, and they said it will cost us £60 to move, I'm so cross:mad: I've been with them now for 10 years , mad enough to have the top package aswell, but obviously they don't want me to continue paying them £57 a month as they would of reduced the amount it would cost to move.

I know we shouldn't necessarliy have services for nothing, but on occasions when you've been a good customer how about being paid back for that loyalty.

Sorry rant over. If anyone has got past this charge before please let me know.

    Thanks Blue
