Has anyone managed to get the £60 charge for moving home reduced or removed?
Yes, we sold up in December 2007 and went into rental. Was told of the charge for installing a dish at the rental place and said "not to worry then" which was met with "let me talk to my supervisor" and, after all of ten seconds, "we can do it for free".
Same thing happened in June this year when we moved into our new home. After posting about receiving an email to my MSE username/email from 'Money Expert' (note the use of ' '), I am now unable to post on MSE. Such is life.0 -

Still, sticking a dish up and laying a bit of cable is really not that difficult. Plenty of guides online.0 -
Rang to cancel on Friday, and didn't get offered a thing! Been with them for 10 years, and have broadband and phone too. Happy to go, but does anyone know if you can keep your email account or adress, I don't know where to start changing all my email adresses!0

No, unfortunately you can't keep your email addresses.
This is the reason people shouldn't rely on ISP email addresses. For a few quid a year you could have got yourself you own domain name and either use email forwarding, or pay a few more quid a year for direct POP3/SMTP access to your domain email address, that way doesn't matter how often you change ISPs you are still using the same email address.
There's also Gmail too, though I prefer my own domain name. This is what I have been doing since the mid 1990s, simply due to back then I could be using a different ISP every week or each day. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
I phoned sky tonight to cancel my sports package, i was paying £40 a month. He asked me why and i said i couldn't really afford it at the moment. He then offered to give me sports for 3 months and pay only £25 a month! I asked him if he could give me the same deal with the movies instead and he did! I just have to cancel again at the end of Feb. Not bad...;)I like my money right where I can see it - hanging in my closet.;)0

I am currently with virgin for phone, broadband & TV. I had a "special" deal which cost me £39.45. This included :
£11 line rental, £7.95 for talk unlimited, £1.50 talk international, £18 Broadband M, £22 TV Large. With a £21 discount. However after receiving a bill for £62ish. I rang to ask why & was told that my deal had reverted back to standard (no advance warning). So I decided to shop around. Went back to BT (no cost for line as the old one still had a dialling tone). Should cost £10.27 for evening & weekend plan. Then I rang Sky & at first got what I thought was a good deal : Phone Evening & Weekend - free, Broadband Mid - £5, Sky+ free + £30 installation (when I told them £99 was a bit too much so close to Christmas). However, while online looking on Sky's website, I had a online chat with an adviser who quoted me £99. I said the same thing, too close etc. she then asked if I wanted phone & broadband as well. When I said yes, she told me I could have a free sky+ box & free installation & she then sent me the link to complete the order! getting installed 21st Dec. Job done. However Virgin rang a few time this week and offered a free v+ box, free installation, free wireless router with the original package for £40.45 with 1 month free.:money:0 -
I think the best way to get a reduction from both sky and virgin is to take the cancellation as far as possible and not to jump ship too quick. This time last year we were with virgin and after doing the sums it was cheaper for us to jump to sky as virgin were offering us no deals so we did and got sky installed then one week before the cut off date virgin came back with a good deal but we had sky installed by this time, so this year we done the sums and virgin seemed the best for what we wanted tried to see if sky could come close but they couldnt and we jumped back to virgin and then yesterday 2 days after our end date with sky they called us offering us 12 month 1/2 price on whatever package we choose but we are now tied with virgin. So next year we will put our notice in and wait it out to see what happens. The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0

Hi,
From reading some of this thread it appears that if I cancel my sky contract ( I am long out of contract and have a sky plus box and dish) then I would
get freesatfromsky which would suit me fine.
I'm just slightly confused as to if I need a new viewing card or not, from several posts here it appears not but Sky say you do?.
Any help appreciateed!
Thanks0 -
Hi itsgototstop,
As you already have Sky (which will already have a sky card in your sky+ box) 1 month after you cancel you will stop receiving the pay channels but will still receive all the free stuff (freesatfronsky) such as BBC, ITV etc.
However just so you know, the Sky+ features will also stop after 1 month.
Hope this helps.0
