If you want a Sky box, then eBay. A viewing card for a handfull of channels is needed, the others (around 200) require no card, the viewing card is £20 from https://www.freesatfromsky.com

If you want the BBC/ITV Freesat then boxes are fairly cheap and are just for the FTA channels, though currently not all the free channels are listed on the EPG and the only box that you can add the other channels is manually is the FoxSat HD (High Definition) box - you can use the FoxSat on HD or SD TV sets.

Sky offer, pay once view forever. You pay £75 and you get the box, the dish, cabling, the installation and 4 months viewing of any 4 mixes, at 4 months you have to call up to cancel the 'free' subscription otherwise you are then tied in for 12 months, so make sure you call in in time and cancel. Your service then becomes a FreesatFromSky box and you use the viewing card for the handful of channels that need it. (Available from Argos, Currys, Dixons) Though you can get it fro £67.50 from Dixons if you use the voucher code SKY10. Remember never set up recurring payments / subscription payments to be taken from a credit always a direct debit.

It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

I have been a sky customer now for just over 12 months paying £45 monthly for sky world.
I want to upgrade to a sky+ box but when i have phoned them THREE times i get THREE different prices ranging from £159-£230.
It actually works out less if i was to join as a NEW customer. How the hell can they have such a difference in price?
Does anyone know if i can get it any cheeper than the £159 online offer?
Sounds such a lot to pay when i am already paying so much.
    Many thanks

I have been a Sky customer for over 1 year and when I called recently to cancel, they offered me £49 for Sky+ straightaway!

Threaten to cancel, and they'll offer a good deal to keep you ;)

I just called them again to ask how much period of notice a needed to give to cancel my sky package and they asked why i wanted to cancel.
He then went to speak to a manager( or go and get a coffee) and oh...shock, horror, what a surprise....now having sky plus installed for only £49 next thursday afternoon.

And this was after a lecture on how much the boxes cost and why new customers are offered a cheeper deal. Amazing how there is such a difference in price now eh....

I just phoned Sky to cancel (had no intention of doing so) was going to cut down my package, I have the £45 deal.
I whinged that I have been a customer for 6 years and am sick of new members getting good deals and us loyal customers get over looked.
    Result:

    Sky + free including install
£15 fee this month knocking off £30 and then in a month will phone them and reduce my package as I first intended, then when the football season kicks off I'll go back to the full package on my nice free Sky+ box :-)

I managed to get Sky + upgrade for Free!! :)

I called Sky Retentions and explained that when I was in the town centre today I noticed that there were two people selling Sky within the shopping centre and that they had a deal on which said new customer can get Sky + Free of charge.

I enquired with them regarding this and they told me that it was for new customers only, obviously not very happy with this I called Sky Retentions/Cancellations dept and explained that I wanted to cancel my subscription and I would buy it again with the Sky chap in the shopping centre.

The advisor put me on hold and went to check with her manager what she could do and she came back and said that she could offer me an upgrade to Sky + Free of charge - Brillaint!! :)

The way there going to do it is charge me £49.00 for the Sky + but immediately apply a credit of £49.00 to my Sky Account which will cancel out the charge.
