So a Freeview Box from a Cable Company????
Does that make sense?

Yeah.
If you are outside the cable area, they will offer a Freeview box.

I'm looking to upgrade from Sky+ to Sky HD... Does anyone know if the 'Turnaround Dept' will offer this? Maybe even put the Sky+ unit in the bedroom for us too?
Just ordered skyhd to upgrade one of my sky+ boxes. Offered to me for £199 with £60 installation. Tried to get half price installation to no avail. However by taking skytalk for my phone calls they knocked another £50 off the box price meaning total cost was £209. Quite happy with that. Fitted on friday. Just phoned the normal number on the website.
Hope this helps.0 -

Yep.
But I'm in a cable area.
Used to have Telewest cable TV quite a few years ago....
Will see what arrives this week.
Thanks,

My oh is moving out next week and was going to take the Sky cashback deal but not it has been pulled. Any ideas for the cheapest Sky deal on offer at present. He wants tv, Boradband and phone and his BIL has a Sky plus box he can have if necessary. Any advice would be great Thanks0

I have been a sky customer since 1987 when you had to buy a box but there was no subscription since then I have had analogue and since 2000 digital and am on the top £45 a month sky world package. I have just bought a HD ready plasma set and wanted to upgrade to HD. As an existing customer I was expected to pay £249 plus £60 installation unless I took telephone and internet services from sky which I dont want or need. A new customer can get a new HD box for £99 and half price installation - how fair is that ? I rang sky customer retentions and complained I threatened to cancel my subscription as my new TV has freeview built in anyway. Having read the website articles I expected some sort of deal to be offered to keep my custom but NO NOTHING ZILCH I carried out my threat to cancel and gave my 30 days notice all the time expecting some 'last minute deal' to entice me back but thats it NO more sky from 24th April. Well '**ck them' if thats how they treat 20 year plus customers I'll stick to freeview and see who else comes up with HD services as they come on line0

I have just dumped sky for the same reason, been with them for 12yrs and when i wanted to upgrade they wanted full price for everything. My 30 day notice expired yesterday and the channels went off today. I think its terrible that they can offer new customers deals when stuffing the old and faithfull.
If enough people leave them because of the "new customer deals" they will soon be out of business or have to come crawling back to old customers with better deals.
Lets get all old customers to start a "DUMP SKY CAMPAIGN" and screw them into looking after long standing customers.0 -
I was a Sky subscriber up until a couple of years back. Similar I had been with Sky since day one of the analogue days (had satellite TV before Astra 1 was launched) and even paid for Sky Digital box and install on day one of that 1 Oct 1998, then after all that time they wanted me to pay the full price for everything.
I already had broadband with cable and their free TV service at a discount, so told Sky where to go, then the middle of last year cable wouldn't honour my new customer offer for another year, so told them where to go, however they didn't want to lose me and came back with a better offer, free phone line install, free line rental, free evening and weekend calls package, free caller display, discounted XL TV package and discounted L broadband package for as long as I stay a customer. I took that offer. Just use my satellite boxes for the free channels. Have a non-Sky Pace HD box for a couple of the free HD channels, a V+ box from cable I now also have.
Sky do need a good kicking, the only way they understand is if enough people dump them. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
Need some advice here guys:
At the minute we have the following:
Virgin Media- Line Rental - £11
- Talk Evening and Weekend £3.45
- 3 Way Call - £1.75
- Broadband Size:M - £18
- Standard Sky Digital (Not + or HD) full TV package (Excluding Movies) - £38
a) Get more for my money (Upgraded broadband/Sky Plus would be nice)
or
b) Reduce the bills.
What can I roughly expect without taking the 'P'
How does my deal rate to your packages?
Thanks in advance :T

Hi Craig
I cant speak about Virgin media too much as i only have broadband with them, but i do think you maybe could get a better deal on your internet connection as i have very rarely paid the going price for thier internet services they provide. My current costs are £17 a month for 4Mb (expected to be up to 10Mb by June) They do seem a bit more sympathic to existing customers than sky do. As for your sky packages I cant really comment other than my previous posts, I have had a quick trawl through thier corporate site and some guy reckons that the churn rate for customers (Thats how fast they turn customers over) is going ok, but that is just corporate talk. My advice is get on the phone and dont forget the "Sayno to 0870" and get a better deal .0
