Just phone up and cancel your services. If they won't play ball, then just do without their TV service and save money and do something else instead. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
I LOVE THIS THREAD its brill how you help each other and keep the bigwigs on their toes.
now-;)can anyone advise me please..
i have had sky for many many years and just plodded on paying the cost and then it got to £45 a month and i thought to myself no way!!
i phoned to cancel and said that we hardly watched it and why should we pay and we only watched this and that channel blah blah and how come new customers were getting talk, sky and the other one for a lot cheaper than what i was paying etc..
anyway, i got talked into having 3 mixes for £18.. now however.. hubby tells me he is missing his sports, daughter tells me she is missing the kids channels:rolleyes:
but i do not want to go back to paying £45 for the month- is that my only option???
i dont need talk or surf just the tv.. i am toying with asking for sky plus just to see how it sits with them
do you have to have all the channels to get sky plus??0 -
I sent an e-mail to sky yesterday using the 1st template in this forum and received a reply from them today. They explained why these offers are sent out and addressed all my issues and offered my sky + for £99 as a good will gesture. As they addressed my issues i can't send off the 2nd template.
Do you think that they are getting wise to these emails and do you think i should accept there offer or hold out for another one??
Any advise is appreciated.0 -

It is a little difficult after allowing Sky to talk you into reducing the number of mixes you have and dropping the premium channels, it really needed to be you enjoy watching all the channels, but can no longer manage the cost and seems such as shame as you'd been a customer for so long. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It seems they may be getting wise to the emails, yes. After using the email templates a relative of mine was promised Sky+ for £49 but when Sky rang to arrange the appointment she was out. When she rang them back they said that the deal isn't showing up on her account, so it doesn't look like she's going to get it now
If you have a friend who hasn't got Sky and you can persuade them to get it, you will both get a Sky+ box free. Offer expires 30th November: http://friend.sky.com/0 -

Sorry I can't help with your other predicament but I can answer this bit, no you don't need to have the full package to get Sky+ I am on the basic package and I have got it.0 -
Does anyone know how to decipher the sky pricing rates? There website isn't easy to understand, so that you cannot simply choose from a menu of channels and prices. Surely Sky could make it easier, but it must suit them to make it complicated so that nobody is able to review the service when they keep raising their charges.
I have just threatened to close my account, in the hope that they would offer a discount, but they refused. They say that there prices are now competitive in the market place (cheaper or very similar to Virgin). Seems steep to me £45 a month for top package!
I am happy to knock the movies on the head but want to keep the Sky sports channels although apparently the cost would still be £38 a month. Any good ideas / opportunities to perhaps eliminate rubbish channels and get the price down?0 -
They have 6 mixes, you can have any number of the Entertainment mixes, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6. You choose which mix you want.
You can then add on either a Sports Mix or a Movies mix or both.
They are slightly cheaper than Virgin and a fair amount cheaper if you have less of the basic channels.
Virgin have an offer on the XL TV package but to get that rate you must have their expensive phone line. Though they do throw in some of the Setanta channels.
With Sky if you have a BT line, you can get inclusive evening and weekend calls for no extra charge and get broadband for no extra charge.
It's because in this circumstance Sky is much cheaper than Virgin that Virgin are price matching Sky and offering me Loyalty Pack discount BB,TV,Tel 3 D SKY. So I'm getting my Virgin service for about half the price it should be, due to them price matching Sky. Plus I get most the Setanta channels too and Video on Demand.
OK cable boxes are ropey compared to Sky boxes, and their network often has issues, whereas in all the years I've had satellite I've only lost the picture a couple of times and that was in very very bad weather, where with cable the picture often plays up, can go off often for no reason other than their network has a fault, their outside equipment has blown a fuse or faulty PSU, it's too hot, it's too cold, it's too dry, it's too wet. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
Thanks for info. unfortunately I am not able to access the page you have provided as the pc says that the page is forbidden for some reason. I don't know if the website is faulty or my internet security is blocking it for some strange reason.0
