    That's grand.

I got my bill this week and it confirmed:

    Broadband L
    Telephone XL

    £23.95/month

With the option of TV M if and when I want it.

Given that I was paying £25 a month to Telewest just for the same Broadband service I'm happy.

    Hi,

Does anybody knows if I cancel my sky subscription and take up a new contract in my wife's name, is there any catch in it?

They wouldn't offer any discount when I called to cancel.

I can go through Quidco and save 55£, and take up a new contract with them.

Has anybody got any experience or any idea about any problems with this approach?

    Thanks

    With regards

I did that last month. Cancelled my wife's acc. Then subscribed again using my name afterwards. Quidco tracked and validated. Also got £10 online discount from Sky. Had a few phone calls from Sky asking for my wife (probable just asking if she want to re-subscribe). Just to be safe, I told them she's moved out.

Got my hubby to call up Sky to haggle for another offer (WE were on a discount which had just finished...after 45 minutes of negotiating not a free movie channel or discount in sight the Sky guy said 'gone are the days of the offers!' There you have it, straight from the Sky-guy's mouth. My hubby said so you are willing to lose a customer of 10 years (not incl. 5 years from our previous house). The guy said 'yes.' Got a letter from them this morning 'Thanking us for letting us know that we don't want to subscribe to Sky any more...despite their best efforts to deliver the best entertainment the world has to offer.' Oh well our loss (or should I say gain - more money in our pocket £264 no small change).

Anyway we did a 'Martin' (as I say to my husband) and audited our viewing and we discovered (no suprise) that the majority of our viewing is with the terresterial channels and the rest is made up of the children's viewing. I am slowly weaning my kids off of Nick Jr. We still have Cbeebies which is a freeview channel. It's worth having a go. You'll find you can't actually watch all the programmes on offer unless you record/Sky+ it.
Oh yes...they are willing to offer you a sky+ box for 1/2price but you have to still pay them the £10 on top of your package for the privilige!

P.S By doing a 'Martin' in all aspects of our life we have managed to pay off a large amount of our Mortgage...just 30K left and opened some ISAs this year. I've been off work looking after my children for 5 years this year. It can be done! WE LOVE YOU MARTIN!!!
    Nubs loves to save!
"I can make it at home for free...with a small aubergine!"

Martin's website has focused me on where my outgoings are...I do a big shop once a week.

Mortgage overpayments are coming along nicely

Looking at switching energy provider - will save £88

Cooking at home...food bill lowest ever!
