Last year I got one of the 6months at half-price deals. This has now ended and no further deal offered. What is really annoying though is that they are now charging me for Movie Channels 2,4,6, 8 & 10 which they gave me for free with my Sky Sports package before!. Any suggestions. I think I will cancel at end of footie season if I can't get another deal.

    Hi,

I have got a sky+ box downstairs and a normal box upstairs, which i believe is termed as multiroom. i also have a package which costs me £60 per month, i get all normal channels movies and sports.

What i was wondering is if i would qualify for an offer, or if virgin media do the same sort of deal but for less????

If you phone and say you want to cancel you should get the cheaper sky plus deal. They will put you thought to cancellations dept. When they ask why you are leaving suggest that you are considering going to Virgin media as you like the look of their equivalent 'sky+' system that can record 2 channels while you watch a third. That should get them onto the subject and hopefully they will offer you the deal. If not let the cancellation go through and then ring upa in a few days and ask of you can get a cheap install if you cancel the cancellation.

I'm with Virgin media and was going to change to Sky.

Sky offered me a Sky+box for £49. I was then going to add on Sky sports which they just said was £37 with £21 for normal basic tv (6 mixes).
I thought i might as well see what Virgin Media can do. I am currently paying £47.50 for phone, XL TV and 2MB Broadband. I asked what they could do for SKySports as the channel i miss most is Sky Sports News. He said for £52.50 he could give me SkySports and Sky Movies which i took. He then offered me a reduction on my Broadband to £10 per month which i took up. So now paying £44.50 for more. Is this a good deal do you think or could i have got more out of him. The bloke i spoke to kept asking "is there anything else i can do for you". I think i should have said yes at that point and seen what else i could get. But i thought i would quit at that point. He seemed to be of the opinion that he would knock as much as we wanted off as it was not his money he was spending!!! Right bloke to get i think!!! But i keep thinking now that i could have got much more!!!

Does anyone know how to actually get through to Virgin Media? I keep getting 'We are sorry we are unusually busy at the moment. Try another time. Goodbye.'

I have what is now the XL package and I can't see the point but I can't tell them I want to leave or downgrade (and therefore see if they will offer me anything) if I can't call them

    We currently have

    Telephone line 1 £11
    Telephone line 2 £11
    Talk Unlimited £14
    TV Size XL £20.50
    Broadband Size L £25

    Thats £81!! :o

I can't get rid of the 2 phone lines but I can move my supplier. I can downgrade or move my supplier on the broadband and the tv. Come to think of it no-one hardly ever watches the tv anyway.

Now all I need is to get through to Virgin. Anyone know a good time to call them?
I live in my own little world. But it's okay. They know me here.

After i got home from work i phoned Virgin again and asked them to detail exactly what i had got changed in my package which was as per my last post. The bloke reeled off the offers and said i think i can do something else for you - Result! Now got V+ box free for 6 months with no installation fee as well. Mind you, if i had come online earlier and seen "wilf55" post i might have held out for free broadband, but again thought i would quit while ahead!! Oh well, i'll just have to phone about broadband and V+ in 6 months and see what they can do again for me then!!!

Thanks to all on MSE as i would never have phoned otherwise, i would have just plodded along on same package!
