Digital TV Cost Cutting Article - Discuss What You've Been Offered

Hi
I have cancelled my contract with Virgin last week and will be calling soon to Sky (first timer). I am looking forward to get Sky+ with TV+phone+BB. Can someone let me know if they have got any good deal with sky recently.
I understand people are paying minimum £49 for Sky+ box but do you need to pay for installation on top? Are there any half price deals around for first timers?
Any help on this would be highly appreciated.
Regards,

last week the 08/03/07 my sky plus stopped recording and was asked to call customer services to upgrade my account,
After waiting for one hr to get through i was told it was all sorted and it was just a glitch on their system.
I was told it would take 2 to 4 hrs for it to work 4 hsr passed still not working called again was told sorrt the last person you spoke to did not do it and they would get it sorted.
I waited to the 9th still not working so i have chasing it everday to now and have been advised it will take at least 3 weks to sort out.
has anyone had this problem?
What can i do? LOVE LIFE PROCEED & PROGRESS0 -
no i cancelled mine recently becuase once your box is knackered they will want 85 quid for a refurbished one.
You cant re-sign up as their free box offer is one per household....
Depends how much the cover costs and how old ur box is?
My sky box was 9yrs old before it gave up the ghost.
First two years paid £99 for cover, since then £79 a year past 4 years.
Does everyone else pay for it? Any suggestions or ideas on what to do?

had a similar problem when we lost all our sky just had the free programmes took 10 days to sort out and just rang everyday as many times as i could in the end got £25 shopping vouchers and 2 free months but basically if you are on the list to be fixed nothing you can do will get it done any sooner the best you can do is get what you can out of them in the meantime refund of the month compensation for time and phone call costs good will gesture etc
good luck by the time you get it back on you will realise that you could live without it well almost!!Save 12k in 2015 member 187. £62.50/60000 -
I just re-subscribed to SKY and got 1/3 off for a whole year!
You claim something without posting the facts. I think you are lying.
This offer (33% off) simply doesn't exist, so I think you've probably been victim to a clever sales technique i.e. give you less, for less, but tell you its 1/3 less than what you were paying.
Sky offers going at the moment appear to be
Retention
£49 Sky +
1/2 Price / Free service call
Free Moving Home offer
Free Dish
Free Box
Free Dish and Box
Re-instates
3 months 10% off
I think there's also a mailer going about just now for people who are on the 6 mix to try sports or movies for half price for 3 months. DO NOT ask for this offer when cancelling, as the above departments cannot access them.0 -
there is no need to state that you think someone is lying perhaps you could have politely asked them for the facts...Save 12k in 2015 member 187. £62.50/60000

do you need to quote any references from the mailer to get this offer?0
