Thanks to all the info on this baord, I have managed to get a home move reconnection (£40) and an upgrade to Sky+ (£199) all for 49 quid

On top of that they threw in half price subscription for 3 months too.

Happy to share negotiating tactics if anyone is interested, but pretty much everything you can find posted here.

I just rang them back up but they wouldn't budge about the £49 Sky+ install fee saying only £65 deals now.

However after a long rant I did get them to give me a discount for 3 months 1/2 price.

The right at the end she said it popped up that I had 3 months previously (august till october) so I could only get 2 months @ 40% off so £25 per month.

Not the best deal but I guess it means £35 better off than I was earlier or £30 install for Sky+.

When should I try for another discount lol?

Nothing stopping you from calling them right back and saying you have to trim your household bills and therefore considering just Freeview.

    Good luck.

Oh sounds good. I am on the move, when my solicitor decides he wants to pull his finger from his you know where and arrange a completion date. I can call Sky then and try and blag myself the same deal. My box has had its days and Sky plus seems very appealing for me as a telly addict.
  • our sky+ box is more than a year old and we keep getting letters and phone calls offering a year's insurance for between £80 and £100 which I think is a bit steep. Does anyone know if I can get it cheaper anywhere else or do I leave it till it stops working and then hassle sky about it and threaten to cancel my subscription. I'd be grateful for any ideas/advice please.
    thanks.

I'm just moving into a new place and would like to get Sky or Cable... I only want the basic package, who's the best place to go to?

I looked at Sky and it would cost me £7.50 for 4 months then £15 after that, all free connection and stuff, the offer closes on 31st Jan... I couldn't really work NTL out!

Don't bother with the warranty. If it breaks then you ring up to cancel because the box isn't working and they will send out an engineer free. I think a lot of people have had new boxes instead of them fixing the old one.

If you are going to order this do it online through Quidco and you can get upto £50 cashback too ;)
