I'm amazed at how rude your response is. I VOLUNTARILY did years and years of helping people in much more exhaustive ways than posting on a forum briefly (i.e. working with severely physically and mentally handicapped, homeless, elderly, allsorts), despite dealing with a great deal else also, and I never put onto anyone else how apparently utterly selfish they are e.g. to post on an open forum that is about people helping each other ... I even said in my message that I hoped to be able to contribute what I could, if you would actually read it properly.

You obviously have no concern at all for others or if they are very nervous of taking on a bank and simply are asking for brief information, which I EXPLAINED I HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND, DESPITE READING THIS THREAD AND THE OTHER SITES.

I'll PM a mod in future, as no-one has any right to be so downright unpleasant for absolutely no reason. I'll take your advice and PM them now, to report this post.

May I point out the following
QUOTE mjanetWithout knowing what your post was about ( on the other forum )

so obviously gave you a general answer BUT did give you an answer .
If you think it's rude to be given a reply then why are you complaining that another post on another forum never recieved a reply .I also pointed out that if it had been missed for none of the other reasons then you could PM a mod in there ,Just no pleasing some people.

EDIT After reading back at some of your other posts where your complainig at peoples answers and people are complianing about you being rude I now understand your attitude.Your assumption of me is totally wrong as I am far from someone who would hide LOL but I do believe that was a totally childish comment from you .Saying that this thread is not the place to be arguing with people and I do not intend to be drawn into any more of your petty arguments.
You got a reply if you did not like it TOUGH , the only thing I can conclude from that is that my answer must of hit on some truth .
Any future reply from you will be ignored so as to keep this thread relavant as we are all asked to.
Wish I could stop editing EVERY post I make

May I point out ... actually READING the question before thinking you can comment so unpleasantly (it was only a few posts back) is the normal sensible thing to do. And obviously I was talking about receiving a POSITIVE response, not pathetic abuse. As usual, a coward who posts abusively on a forum but wouldn't dare say it to anyone's face. And Jo and you didn't miss my post, but if you think your argument of my post being missed has a point, think that. I really don't care, as opinion's irrelevant - have nothing positive to say.

I won't bother posting with anything I find out that may be useful for the thread ... what with s****y responses like yours, criticism when I do post helpfully elsewhere, posts ignored etc etc ... don't have to put up with it; much better things to do elsewhere. And at least there'll be reliable well-mannered advice from the CAB, even if I have to wait a while for an appointment. Am happy to wait for that rather than waste time continuing this.

Not responding again, so your fun is over. Go bother someone else.
  • I have all my eggs in one basket with First Direct ie off set mortgage and all but one account, which is kids child benefit. Over last 15 years have been very pleased with them but have paid overdraft charges for going over limit for one day although was aware of charges and thought own stupid fault until now. I am sceptical about pursuing because they hold all our accounts and we would be up the swanny if they closed them mortgage and all. Any advice please?

    Hi

Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong section, but I noticed a lot of people posting in the same thread about their cases ... great to read the successes; hopefully be able to add mine in there too at some point, and anything I can add re how things go, incase that's any use to anyone.

Intend to reclaim charges from NatWest, but need to open a new bank account first. Can I just check, if I close NatWest account, I can then ask them to freeze the interest, and I also say one amount I can manage a month? And they can't add in any extra charges? Been reading a lot of threads and sites, but just want to be absolutely sure, rather than repent at leisure.

    Thanks, Cat

    Hi Cat,

I am assuming you owe the Natwest money in an overdraft or loan????

Anyway which ever way it is, if you we them money and don't have the means to pay it all back, you can ask them to freeze interest and paya monthly figure. This depepnds on how much you have left over after all your monthly expenses, you have to send them a statement of your income and outgoings and start that way.

If it comes to that there are lots of willing people on the dfw board that will help you.

    Hi Carli

Many thanks for message. Yes, owe overdraft and credit card. I hadn't realised they ask for a statement of income and outgoings ... much appreciate you telling me about that. May I just ask, I can't afford for NatWest to take all the surplus I have (surgeries pending, need contingency money etc) ... so it would just be a case of making sure I detail as available in the income/outgoings statement only what I truly can manage to pay them? Don't know if that sounds odd; hope I put it correctly!

Many thanks also for recommending the DFW board.

    Best regards, Cat x

Can you help me I sent abbey the standard letter on the website saying what i wanted to claim back, why and under what legislation it falls.
They replied with a 2 page letter basically saying Sorry we have given you cause to complain in relation to your charges. I regret to inform you that we cannot uphold your complaint. I have considered the points raised but they are in line with there T's & C's and it its not the first time I have got charges and I should of claimed before now.If it esclates into a county court judgement they may choose to close my account and if I'm still disstatisfied then contact the finanicial ombudsman. What do I do now, please PM me with answers?

That is a standard letter and the financial ombudsman has no juristiction over this matter only a court.
As everyone is told there is a chance your account can be closed so you should have another account open as a parachute account. If they close your account because you exercise your rights as far as their unlawful charges then there is redress .
All decisions must be your own but if it was me I would still pursue them for my money they have unlawfully taken.

( I never PM'D my answer as others might get the same letter )

    They have a step-by-step there.
