OS daily thread Wed 10th Sept

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning everyone :) Twice in one week.... I'm not sure these early mornings (late nights!) are good for me! My body clock has completley shifted now. I'm very very awake! :o Still, at least it means OH can skype from the US and not wake me up. He can also call my work land-line, so it's cheaper too. Very mSE :)

He did his talk yesterday and he said it went really well which is nice

I've just aquired a collection of lock-lock boxes from the kitchen here which is nice (well, they are now they have been cleaned!). They had been on the side for three weeks with a note saying that if they weren't removed they would be thrown out. I kindly offered to deal with them :D

Well, I'm about to go and microwave some breakfast - I have learnt over the last few weeks that I can cook quite an array of food just using a microwave, a toaster and a kettle. I bought cube sugar though as it's cheaper at the moment than the equivalent weight in granulated. I am embarrassed to say I have eaten an entire layer this morning without realising :rotfl:

I'm going to try the apple butter this afternoon, but I have to go on a jam jar hunt first. :rotfl: I have a load of bras to post to the bra appeal too (on one of the other threads), but I will do that on my way back to work this evening! House is tidy (mainly because there is noone in to trash it), laundry is done too. Pleased to get a £5 amazon voucher from a survey I did last week (it's the oasis drink one, the link is somewhere on another board here), which is nice :)

I will go home about 9 am I think, as my coffee buddy in the morning is complaining that I've gone home by the time he gets in and he has to wait for the others to arrive before morning teabreak :rotfl:

Have a good day everyone :) cel x

Morning Celyn and any who cross/follow.

    :bdaycake: Penny-Pincher (Thanks Snowy)

Was shattered last night so went to bed at 10pm, hence 6 hours later wide away, I sleep well (crash out) but 6 hours seems to be my lot, never mind at least got here, which I didn't manage yesterday. Went to town and got some fruit off the market 2 punnets Raspberries £1.20 and 2 of strawberries £1.50. Raded £1 store managed to keep it to £6. Got some more nice sausages for DH, Pork, Lamb & Mint and Lamb & Rosemary. Watched a repeat of the first "Hairy Bakers" which was at Donny market, and they got their bacon & sausage for their baps from the same butchers.

The bedroom is eventually taking shape, and the units are almost in, the ensuite is all but finished, and just the walk in cupboard/wardrobe just needs to be fitted out as I want it. Rumour has it that it will be finished today:j :j :j :j :j then we can get back to the ks bed.
:grouphug: to all - help yourself.

Morning all who have posted and all who will!

Happy Birthday, PenPin:bdaycake: Have a fantastic day today and (((hugs))) to you, too!

(((Hugs))) also to Smoky, Jayward, Candygirl's Dad, Essex-girl's Dad, Beth and her DBs and Sammyjig's OH and everyone else who would like one.

Well, DH has been at home quoting for jobs for the last couple of days so I'm not getting a lot done. He is out and about today pricing things up and so on so I hope to get some time to get things done, like the ironing and baking.

The weather is meant to be good today - well, good compared to what we have had to put up with lately, so I'm hoping they've got the forecast right!

Dinner tonight is garlic and herb chicken but I'm not sure what will be going with it yet. I am also going to make some red pepper and onion soup in the Remoska just to use up some oldish onions and some wrinkled peppers, so I hope it turns out well. I intend to stock the freezer with various soups and sauces made with veg trimmings and other things that go past their use by date - it's so easy to bung a few things in the Remoska with some stock.

A quick question - has anyone found a foolproof freezer label? All the ones I try end up falling off and I'm fed up with having to guess what's in the freezer bags! Ages ago I was told to use masking tape but that doesn't work either!

Anyway, I'm going to have a shower so I'll see you later.

    Morning All

I don't think I've managed to post since I went back to work. It's very hectic at the moment but I'm hoping it will calm down a bit once the start of term's a distant memory!

Not a lot on today home wise although I need to catch up on some house work. I spent an hour trying to sort my friend's new MP3 player out last night and still couldn't get it to download anything so I told him to take it back as after getting my mate to come over and have a go as well we decided the software must be faulty.

Went to SW last night for my first weigh in and I've lost 5lbs so I was dead chuffed with that.

    :bdaycake: Happy Birthday penny-pincher!

Right DS has just got up so I'd better make a move.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Hugs to all

    Morning :hello:

    Happy Birthday PP :bdaycake:

Meanmarie, good luck for your OH today

Betheebee  Tell your DGD that master troo and his friends were mugged for their phones (don't tell her about the machete master troo had held to his stomach though :silenced: ) and the police were great, the sods were caught and locked away in a youth detention centre. Victim Support kept in touch too, in case he needed them.
Egg collecting and daisy chains sounds perfect :D

    Sammy woohoo-smiley.gif:D

I made an apple and blackberry crumble yesterday so I did something useful :D I want to get my little pile of ironing done, I hate it when things aren't done, I usually iron as soon as the clothes are dry. Need to get the animals outside too, they've been running around in the kitchen but there's no grass in there lol.

Thanks for all the 'sorrys' about my job yesterday  I think the redundancy is actually my own fault - the boss was wasting so much so I went into MSE mode at work, saved him money on most things, completely got rid of other things, persuaded him to give up the office and use a server for all files (he was paying for it anyway so why not actually USE it  ). Trouble is, it left me with hardly any work. I moneysaved my way out of a job  On the other hand, if it wasn't for me, he'd still be forking out a fortune. I've saved him well over six times what he pays me, so I think it's a bit of a cheek. But I've found out that karma is about to bite him on the a$$ :D

Mioliere, I had trouble with labels in the freezer too. I had a lightbulb moment the other day lol. I cut printer labels into strips lengthways and write the contents on (don't write in the middle, do it on the right - or left if you prefer lol), then wrap the strip round the tie/knot on the bag. Like a bread bag :D

  • Good Morning

    Happy Birthday PP

Juliejim - well done on the weightloss

Troo - sorry to hear about your job

(((hugs))) to anyone who needs one especially Twink & Pixie.

Had a horrible day yesterday - number crunching as we have a large vat and tax bill. Have managed to make the figures work I think but will be a very tight month, doesnt help that DS' birthday is at the end of the month but have budgeted for that.

Did have a nice dinner last night, roasted a chicken in the remoska which came out lovely as usual then while the chicken was resting made a chicken sauce with leeks and had it with mash. Tonight will be using the leftover chicken with rice.

Off to tai chi this morning, missed it last week so am really looking forward to it. Some paperwork this afternoon then the small amount of ironing I have.

Need to go and wake DD now, have a great day.

im feeling a bit better, still having dizzy spells though

had to change ds1's insulin routine again as his bloods are way too high during the day and they wont come down! this will be the 3rd or 4th change so hope this works, his nurse is keeping in close contact with us roughly twice a week at the moment and she is going to be visiting the school to get some stuff sorted out.

Try to catch up on some cleaning today, been a bit lazy since i came home but has to get done.

big hugs for twink at mo, so extra kisses for you:kiss::kiss::kiss:
