Laptop, Skyrim, WOW, COD but obviously for the money am happy to not play on full/highest resolution, as this is just a side machine to the xbox. I do a lot of blogging and always have multiple windows/tabs up so it needs to be a good multitasker too. I know I'm asking a lot but happy to compromise on gaming so long as its fine in other areas, TIANo buying un-necessary toiletries challenge - Start total: 235. Current total: 273!!0

It's quiet here these days.
I've been asked to try and find a suitable laptop for under £300.
It will be used for for the usual 20 yr old (male;)) things, Facebook, music, photos and hooking up to a TV.
Also 15" screen.
Nifty usually recommends Toshiba from Argos ebay shop, so looked there after looking on HUKD.
One thing I did pick up was that the Dual Core B9** processors are rated as pretty good bang/buck.
So it's either
Cheaper

Or with better (?) processor and more RAM

Both have usb 3.0 and HDMI
Or are there other, better deals around?Move along, nothing to see.0 -
Seen a lot of these B950 processors about, particularly in Toshibas, but on checking they appear to have a lower spec/performance than my 2year old Asus with 1st generation i3 330M.
So 2 years later, I don't see the point in effectively going backwards!David.0 -

How much did you pay for your ASUS? I don't think that someone suggested that you buy one.0 -

Apologies for speaking out of turn!David.0 -
I would always say, all things being equal (as they are with both being very similar model Toshibas) go for the best spec you can afford. You're far more likely to buy a lower spec and wish you'd bought higher, than you are buying a higher spec and wishing you'd bought lower
Should have made clear it's not for me, I'm older than his father.
I totally agree with what you're saying, that was my thinking, just nice to have it reinforced.
I'll suggest the better model, if there are any still available.
He's not pressuring to get one, surprisingly for someone of his age, he's prepared to hang on for a good deal.Move along, nothing to see.0 -

Depends what you use it for.:)
B950 has a higher bench mark than my E6300/4GB ram, I run various Linux VMs etc with no problem.
So a B950 should cope easily with simple browsing, i-tunes and playing dvds back through the tv.Move along, nothing to see.0
