I am none the wiser...
It's basically a netbook. At best it's likely to be underwhelming.
As for reliability...0 -

Ideally a laptop, as she likes the idea of a keyboard and thinks she would find some web pages difficult to use with a touch-sensitive display.
Thanks.0 -

Your posts are becoming more strange.
It's nothing like a Netbook. Netbooks don't even have internal optical drives. The screen size is nothing like a Netbook, nor is the processing power.
I don't understand your post at all.0 -
I am none the wiser.... processors confuse the hell out of me as to what is better... do i need a great spec one for my non gaming usage.
So for £299 the Acer is better value but their reliability has been questioned?
The ACER is not £299.99. I have a four year old ACER laptop, still going strong. Can't speak for others though.
It's a good package at that price. Especially including an Accidental Damage warranty.
But you may choose to spend more on a faster processor if you wish.0 -

I looked up a couple of benchmarks and assumed the worst.
Found a review eventually though.0 -

I see...you were referring to the Lenovo. The OP asked about the ACER, but perhaps meant the Lenovo.0 -
Hello
I am looking for a laptop and having been online to try and work out what spec i need, i am still none the wiser. So i've come here for your expertise.
I would like something as small and light as possible. I've had a look at the netbooks but not sure if they are powerful enough for my needs.
It will be used for surfing, watching films and using MS Office (mainly word and excel), store/editing my photos (nothing special though) and doing my new budget spreadsheets. i don't play any games. It does need to had a DVD drive (but happy to have external as long as this is within budget of £350 at very max)
I travel with work and can't use the work laptop for my own thing, hence I'd like this to be as small and light as i can get away with as this will be the 2nd laptop that i carry.
I currently have a rather old PC -it does do everything i need, just need to be more portable.
Would a notebook do what i need or is it definitely a laptop?
Thank you0 -
BTW I use use Skype quite a bit so it needs camera, speakers etc0

Refer to post #2866 for a laptop. Otherwise you are looking for an 'Ultrabook' or similar.
This ASUS at £200, is relatively inexpensive. Though the screen may be too small for you and the power lacking. You are covered by DSR, so can test it for up to seven working days before deciding to return it for a no quibble refund if unsuitable. External writer can be purchased for around £22.0 -
Hello..I need to buy a laptop today if possible around £200. I've looked online but just don't understand all the jargon..I mainly use for streaming films so all I know its it must have hdmi. What would you buy?0
